Not Helichrysum italicum, "Curry Plant"

I
purchased these two "herbs" from a local garden center which no longer has the
one in question and has no idea what it might be. The first is Helichrysum
italicum, "Curry Plant".

It resembles Helichrysum "Icicles" but has the curry
scent. It doesn't impart that flavor to foods, but is simply a lovely, scented
ornamental. The other plant is similar to it and had a tag identifying it as an
edible, curry flavored/scented herb which does impart the curry taste to some
foods.

Of course, the one I brought home didn't have a tag. They aren't the same
plant. Both have spent the past few weeks in larger pots with fresh soil and
have put on new growth. Both have a curry-like scent with similar coloring, but
the not Helichrysum has greatly smaller, much "wetter", more resinous scented
growth. Googling "edible curry flavored plants" has yielded nothing new. The one
in question reminds me of a type of California Buckwheat.

I
have found Helichrysum thianschanicum, which is also being called "Icicles", but
none of the Icicles I have encountered smelled like curry, and it is not the
unidentified plant. The smaller growth isn't due to an old, stressed plant as
all the new growth continues to be the same size as the original, and it is
completely different from italicum and thianschanicum. Any ideas, please? Thank
you! Kim
