new home, new/old garden

This is my first spring in my new (built in 1945) home. Many areas of the garden are over grown. I wonder if these areas need to be thinned out. Please feel free to critique and offer advice.

lamb's ear and creeping phlox

There are also Columbine seedlings all over, growing between other things. I'm think I should pull the stray plants and keep them in a group. Then I will need to make sure to deadhead before they set seed. Do you agree?

And should I pull plants that are growing right against the house? These are stray as well.

Thanks for your advice,
Bonnie in OH
