Shades of Light--Anybody have coupon code for Free Shipping?
Comments (13)beekeeperswife,you asked to see my dining room light, here it is, the light was all beige, and not in keeping with my decor, but I knew I could change all of that, the parts still in beige sort of are faux stone, and very heavy like real stone, the rods are iron, and the shades are metal, I did all the hand painting, and did my faux rose quartz finish on the shades.. and it is perfect for my diningroom, as I knew it would be when I ordered it! it was a bear to hang for dh & I as it is extremely heavy! But well worth $80.00 on sale from $400.oo and Free shipping....See MoreAnybody have two different countertops in their kitchen?
Comments (7)Yes! Lots of us do. I have three. And plenty have varying counter heights too. Have you looked in the Finished Kitchens Blog? That's where records of our kitchens go. (Not mine--it's not quite done yet.) I have 3, actually. I don't recommend it, but in the busyness of my kitchen it's not too bad, and it was necessary for function. I've got to get a better picture than this cluttered one, but this is the most cleared it's been during the not finished yet. The far counter is handmade tile, the island surface is a soapstone because getting custom tile to fit around the sink would have been nightmarish (though theoretically possible), and the table portion is sunflower seed husk board because it had to be lightweight. The table folds down. You can see just a bit of the bracket underneath on the right hand side. The perimeter is 36.5" high, the island is 38" and the table is 30". The table is strong enough for rolling dough, but I decided I'd just wear tall clogs and roll on top of the island. I think. Haven't been able to bake yet....See MoreAnybody have custom laminate with bevel edge
Comments (13)Hey Kompy! Thanks for all that.I was just saying in another thread how the budget\money part of this process really stresses me out and it isn't even my money - I don't know how KD's do it I think it not being your money makes it worse. I got another just postlam quote back yesterday and it was 2-3 hundred higher. This process is really roller coaster last week I was thinking we haven't spent a lot of the contingency maybe we could upgrade the countertop, this week a couple of real estimates come in for other things and we are on the budget precipice. The $850 includes the corner mitre (yes it is by the sink - I know), 3 end caps (both sides of the stove and the cab that is now the angle cab and I have not gone back to discuss the angle cab with them but I am prepared to see the cost jump about $150 because of the required material to get the postlam edge over the door - it is going to involve a lot of waste), No integral splash - hate them. I like this company, HD's in our area have a contract with another company and they are having problems so a few of the Depot's are steering customers to these guys. They only work with postlam - they did a couple of episodes of Design U (do you get that on HGTV in the US?) with this company doing the countertops. A bit more than 15 linear feet but angled cab despite being only 12 inches over the door will probaly require at least an additional 2 feet, so I would say a minimum of 18. Fridge is currently in one corner of the L but is being moved another wall - we may only be able to cover it in postlam but my Mom is excited about the new large expanse of countertop (she will have nearly 80 inches of uninterupted countertop on one side of the L). Sink is a double deckless drop in brushed all over that is $304 regular and $260 at the plumbing supply place. Novanni distributes Elkay in Canada and just below Elkay the have a line called Novanni Elite which this sink is from. It's for higher end builders and manufactured in Canada. If you can't do a drop-in then I say go deckless. This is the Geneva edge I like, way more than you should ever like a postform edge:...See MoreHas anybody had Caesarstone calacatta nuvo countertop installed?
Comments (59)What are good wall colors for this combination? I'm installing a Calacatta Novo countertop with white high-gloss IKEA upper cabinets and Voxtorp walnut look base cabinets. Using simple 3x6 white subway tiles for backsplash with gray grout and Rawtech white tiled floor (looks like light concrete). I'm thinking of introducing some greige to shake things up instead of a more typical white like Simply White or Cloud Nine (which looks great in the pictures above!) - Worn Leather Shoe, Upper West Side, or Quicksand looked interesting in the Benjamin Moore online program. Any tips?...See MoreJenny P
