Acrylic or glass (not glass tile) backsplash in Bay Area?

Even though we had decided on large format (12x36) ceramic tile for our backsplash, we are revisiting for the 3rd time the idea of a glass backsplash. A low cost solution we are considering to avoid the highly inflated cost of backpainted glass is to simply install a 1/4" glass (or acrylic?) sheet on the painted wall between the wall and base cabinets, like here: [https://www.houzz.com/photos/forma-design-modern-kitchen-dc-metro-phvw-vp~336560(https://www.houzz.com/photos/forma-design-modern-kitchen-dc-metro-phvw-vp~336560).

Has anyone on GW done anything similar, or found a supplier for low cost backpainted glass in the SF Bay Area?
