Annie, I know we cannot do that style. But I do love it - love the double doors & curve! They go perfectly with your home! We will consider wood. The house is in Florida, about 5 miles from the ocean. The house faces south, so I am not concerned about the sun beating on the doors. We went to the door lumberyard yesterday, & they seemed to think a wood door would work fine at our location & would not need maintenance too often, as long as it was painted/stained & sealed properly. DH is really struggling with glass & privacy. I don't want a frosted glass & he wants some glass but total privacy. The house will be set pretty far back on the lot, so I am not worried about privacy too much. I am one that could walk naked down the street with no issues, but he wouldn't walk around the house in boxers if there was non-privacy glass in the front. I played in PS again. Any thoughts on any of these door styles? The first one has some curves in the moulding, so that could introduce the cove ceiling element from the foyer. My favorite is #2, but that offers the least amount of privacy for DH. #3 might be a compromise for DH. #4 is too Craftsmen, but that is what he was originally drawn to. Since your windows are at the lower elevation I would definitely keep the transom. It's about maintaining a consistent and human proportion and maintaining that top of window datum line. Otherwise the front door appears to be dwarfing the rest of your front facade. We have a single 7'-8" tall door on our house but the windows in the rooms on either side have windows which are set just as high.

Availability may have improved since our doors and windows were ordered in 2021, but we were unable to get the 42" doors specified for our front entry or the entrance from the garage. We needed wind/impact rated doors and all we could get were 3' X 6'8". We could not get a transom for the front door, either. Those were just some of many compromises we made in order to build during a pandemic. It will be okay, just not ideal or what was planned. As Mark said, a 36" door is sufficient for a wheelchair, as I also know from experience. If you want to build now then it will help to remain flexible. Good luck!

Yep. Just extend the roof out to the align with the garage roof. If the peak is to the right of the front door, just extending the roof to the left is a nice modern approach. if the peak doesnt relate to the front elevation in a logical way, extend the whole thing. edited: Im on my phone waiting for a childs knitting lesson, so please forgive the terrible drawing :-) This is what i mean.
