How to Root about 30 Forsythia, Lilac, Butterfly and Snowball Bushes

Hello everyone,

Anyone have any ideas on how I can take about 30 cuttings from Forsythia, Lilac, Butterfly and Snowball bushes and get them to root?

I'm planning on making a hedge row with these bushes. I was able to make about 2 of each last year by layering the branches. This would take forever to get the amount of bushes that I want though.

I've read a few places that you can root these in sand. Is this correct? If so, would I be able to use a box next to my vegetable garden that is 8x8 and fill it with sand? Would cuttings root in this container? How often would I have to water it? Would it be okay in full sun all day during the spring, summer, fall in zone 6?

Thank you for any replies!
