Spare house key....you know, for when you get locked out?

That spare house key ... is supposed to be hidden in the barn, shed, outhouse ... wherever ... else but in the house!

And *not* under the doormat! Or basement window.

(Tape it behind your ear?).

A million years ago (they don't live there now, so no one check) my grandparents hid their key in the crook where the gutter curves away off from the house. Thought it was a good spot, but I don't have gutters; I live underground!

Ah OJ! If you read the question....it indicates on of these is tucked away somewhere! Doesn't necessarily mean in the house! ;)

Well, I know that we have a bunch of boxes that we have never unpacked in the nearly 25 years that we have lived in this house. Cannot just throw them away -- there might me good stuff in them (including whatever it is that everyone else has tucked away)!

The question states that 40% of homes have one of 'these' tucked away somewhere. I'm translating that to mean inside the home.

oh plllog good guess. When we packed up our house 5 years ago to do a reno we found 3 fondue sets that hadn't been used in the 22 years that we had lived in the house. Two of those were wedding gifts. We found them when we were unpacking the boxes to decide what to store and what to throw away.

Lindsey_CA - yes, you never know what you will find in those boxes. We had a newborn and an 18 month old when we moved into the house. We unpacked the essentials and the rest stayed in boxes for 22 years.
