Take plug out pull rope should blow oil out spark plug hole them pour small amount 2 tablespoons gas in sparkplug hole pull rope serval times blow gas oil out. Then install plug try crank engine if runs let run for 15 minutes so smoke oil from engine and muffler half throttle. Leave air filter off its no good oil to much oil. And correct oil level before start engine. If take spark plug out can't pull rope overhaul engine. You need new plug and air filter so test engine.

I believe you have a "1" not a "2",I believe the "2's" had the PTO engagement lever for the tines.....I could be incorrect....The HH-60 (solid cast iron engine)was used in the late 70's and early 80 models....The high speed setting is adjusted by bending the metal governor linkage (a high point in the governor rod) if bent to increase spring tension=higher RPM's,if bent to be more open,less spring tension ,lower RPM"s....it does not take much bend to change the engine speed.... This is as clear as mud....isn't it ??? Jim

Lary, These are forward rotating tine machines, not counter-rotating tines. All of the old Horses were this way. Bill, The number you posted is just a casting number, not the serial number. Look below the T-handle and clean all the gunk off to find a serial number. Parts that you need are readily available from a bunch of sources, including MTD (who took over for Troy Bilt) Jenice, If you have the 6HP Tecumseh engine, you dont have all of the model number. What you posted is the "spec" number. Your model number is most likely HH60. Use that model number, and you shouldnt have any problem finding the carb kit. The recoil starter may be a little bit harder to find.

Another idea of how to protect the dumbos amongst us! With that set-up, there is no way you can get yer feet in the tines, because they aren't going to turn with the engine not running! I have heard that the safety gurus have decided that parachutes are highly dangerous, so the guvment has decreed that there will no longer be a rip-cord to open the chute, and there will be a 30,456 word warning to all prospective users! They figure nobody in their right mind will try to use the chute!;o)
