Then you should look for a cheap sources to buy seeds or plants, like your local nursery and farmer markets. If you're not inclined to look around, while I don't generally go to Walmart, their seeds section actually have a few good selection for cheap price, because it seems no one who shops there give a crap about growing so the price is lower compared to Lowe's and HomeDepot. There are lots of hybrids, but you can find some heirloom variety too, it won't tell you on the package, but you can look up the variety names. For ordering seeds online, a lot of people get their heirloom seeds from Baker Creek's Heirloom Seed Company. But I rather find places that sell them cheaper, like eBay.
