need help with big beige and BLAH!
Comments (8)your room is plenty big enough to have several 'areas'. i'd certainly have a couple of chairs (not leather and in a brighter color) and a table back by the doors facing outward for just sitting there and enjoying the view. a lot depends on what you do about a fireplace (i totally understand one in FL - just like one here in AZ!). I'd somehow put the fireplace in with bookcases (with and without doors and some glass doors) along that wall plus the tv. I do think a big tv is called for with that huge wall tho. I'd have it done so that the tv looks built in. I think I might want to leave some wall space open on either end and over the fireplace for artwork (well, I do have a lot of it). Artwork can bring in a lot of color. I think I'd start with an area rug tho (it'd be oriental type for me). then I'd work with colors in it for colors in artwork to be found, pillows, vases, the 'view' chairs, etc. I'd also put an area rug under the table and chairs - not matching but co-ordinating. and plants, green and some flowering to add color. i'd look thru magazines, online and in stores at their wall bookcases/ shelves etc. (take measurements of that wall when looking). once you get some color in by way of chairs, rugs, artwork etc, then i'd decide if I wanted to keep those walls beigey. once one wall is covered mostly w/fireplace (how about an electric one? off / on with the flip of a switch - and can add some heat on a cool night. or not) and bookshelves, 'built in' TV you'll see if the walls need more color or not. Spend the time (don't hurry) looking and picking out IDEAS that you both like before making any final decisions. on the windows - I'd ask around at decorator stores and online about sunblocking panels. I wouldn't really want something with a heavy feel to it tho. and as with those redoing kitchens and cabinets, check some local woodworkers for the wall cabinetry around your to be fireplace and the TV. medium to dark wood, not light and not painted. going really dark would depend on the dust level there and how much you like to dust. i'd want a lot of glass doors to keep the dust down. somewhere in there i'd want a tall, thin light of some kind (not a normal lamp) - more of an art piece in a color - turquoise i think i'd want. or purples. doesn't have to be solid - more like multi, maybe some swirls ? with a flowing motion/look to it....See MoreMy sister says blah blah blah
Comments (27)Snookums, have you ever looked at any navy counters? I did before I posted. Some are nearly black or have a lot of grey -- not that far from the slate. Sure, there are brighter blues, but that's not what I was talking about. The slate looks great and that type of navy could too -- but I probably wouldn't have suggested the idea if I had realized the OP had green (and brighter green) counters. Camarodreemer76, I'd really like to help you, but I'm having a hard time seeing the laminate with the cabinets. You are seeing them in person and I'm seeing flash photography and computer monitor images. That last photo seems to be picking up green from your counters too. My concern is whether the colors work together. I just can't see that they do on my monitor, but as I pointed out, I'm not seeing it as you are. If they do, I think the tile is nice and would use it. If not, don't rush into something that isn't right and be unhappy until you can pay again to redo it....See MoreHelp needed to turn Blah to BAM!!!!!
Comments (20)WOW!!!!,, Thank you so very much everyone for all your ideas!,, Sueb20 repainting is no problem at all. I understand what your saying about bringing in color with accessories etc. roseabby,, I am working on finding drapes and "something" for over the sofa but I'm trying to wait until I get the new rug and chair. I don't know but I'm still liking the look of the feature fp wall. Caroline, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who is struggling with trying to get enough seating in this lil ole room. haha,, isn't it fun? Why coudn't we be blessed with a few more feet? Also, the pup you see is actually a German Short Hair. Holy cow,, what energy this dog has. But a beautiful dog with a wonderful personality. Don't let him know I said this but, it's my DH's new son!,, haha. I also see what everyone is saying about getting the rug first and playing off of that. I am leaning towards either rust or red for the main color. Am I wrong? Would it be to heavy? or should I go with a beige with red or rust splashes in it? Squirrelheaven,,, I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE you. Thank you sooo much for your time in showing me what a feature wall would actually look like rather than what my mind usually sees that ends up looking not even close to what I envisioned! I not a cold color lover. (as I'm sure you have figured out with all the boring beiges and taupes and tans etc) So the feature wall with the blue is probably gorgeous to someone else just not me. I know,, I'm boring! lol But I can actually picture what it would look like with a spice color now. mjlb, I'm really liking your idea of the floor lamps. It would also give me a little more room. hmmmmm the hunt is on! I will keep everyone posted as the room trangresses. I also hope for your opinions as the changes transpire just to keep me on the right track....See MoreNeed help decorating very blah RV!!
Comments (29)Yes its very frustrating isn't it! Especially since RV manufacturers made heavy use of brown... and more brown! Your furniture and cabinetry in your RV looks really nice! I would love to have the lighter color sofas.. ours is brown. Here is the rug I ended up using -- it was pretty cheap, like $40 on Amazon I figured if I didn't like it no big loss there : This is the fabric I used on the cornices: And here's the kitchen/living area .. I don't have a pic with the rug in it but it just fits in the 'living area' under the 2 ottomans. I didn't want to remove the cornices either due to they house the day/night shades and can't do without those. previously they were brown/black fabric. gross....See MoreYardvaark
