This is a nice closeup. I love the coloration of the feathers. Thank you!

Here's a plant currently blooming in my area. The flowers start out purple, fade to lavender, then white--hence the name: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow. Has a nice scent too.

I am envious of your long-range lens, Casey. Beautiful photo!

Rose 'Mrs. Dudley Cross.' Unfortunately, the roses don't last long in our hot sunshine.

Thanks Marcia, it's a 300mm lens, so not that long compared to some local birders.

Nicole, what kind of bird is that sitting on your antler??

Mine is a picture of giraffes at the Baltimore Zoo.

Casey, you and your equipment do beautiful work. Can you handhold the lens or do you need a tripod for it?

Love the giraffes! Cute how the bird found the antler to perch on. And I wish I had room for a Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow plant. I'm afraid I have filled up my garden. As a newcomer to Florida, I didn't realize how fast( and how large) plants grow here!

Just came home to find these cookies on my counter with a note that said, "we will be back for these, it is too hot to leave them in the truck while we do a bike ride" . Daughter's tandem is stored here for the winter, so on the way to deliver cookies to friends they stopped in to get the bike and couldn't resist a ride in the first 70 degree sunny day of the year.

Murraysmom, what a great puzzle that giraffe picture would make!

Marcia I hand-hold the lens, I really don't like tripods and only use one for long exposures.

I know this has been asked before, so I'm sorry to be asking again. Is there any way to correct pictures which post sideways (taken on iPhone)? I seem to recall to remember to take pics with the start button on the right, but what about fixing the already-taken pictures? Are we stuck with sideways?

Socks, any photo editing program will rotate the images for you--unless you're asking how to do it here in these threads, in which case I have no idea. :-)

    Murraysmom....a dark-eyed Junco.

Socks.....Alisande is correct. Photobucket, flickr...or any photo sharing site will turn it, then you download it to YOUR PC, then post it here. I have the same problem shooting with a regular camera....

socks....never heard of that BEAUTIFUL ground cover...Googled it...z9.

    Hi Casey,

    Thanks for the beautiful pics.

    "Double crested cormorant"?

I can't see *one* crest - let alone two. (Eyes are failing - but ...).

    ole joyful

Ed, the crests only show up during breeding season.

Party_Music, do you have a Ukrainian heritage? My sisters and I used to make eggs like that when we were kids, a good memory. My grandparents came over from the 'Old Country.'

Beautiful eggs, party music! It takes patience and talent to do that. Yes, we got our plate of cookies on Tuesday (there is 2 left) plus 2 potica (nut) rolls 2 apricot rolls and a half dozen hot cross buns. Put all in the freezer but the cookies. I am sure there will be more cookies later.

The picture was correct in my computer, but when posting it here, the poor guy was sideways. I uploaded to Photobucket, downloaded it back to my pictures, and now it's ok.

Murraysmom, here is another giraffe for you from the Living Desert in Palm Desert, CA. What regal, stunningly beautiful animals they are!

On my computer I have to click the pic to see the head!! Toooo tall!

Socks, I just figured out how to rotate a picture on your iPhone. Choose your picture, Edit, Crop tool, left little picture will rotate it!!! Yaay! Now I learned something new too!!

I love your giraffe too. He looks so "at home" there in California!!

Party, your Easter eggs are just beautiful!! Gazania, your cookies look delicious. I'm glad you got a share as well as all those other goodies. Alisande, your cow looks like she lives in Mayberry. :)

I will just share pictures from my friends blog. She is on her way home from a motorcycle ride in
    South Africa.

Murraysmom, thank you. I did not know that, about how to rotate a pic on the phone. However, that was not my problem. The picture was ok on the phone, ok on my computer, but flipped on its side when posted here.

    Wow, gorgeous pictures!

Murraysmom there are so many giraffes in your picture it's hard to count them all. I love it.

Bob, do you think that might be the only Jumping Giraffe in captivity?

    in my back yard

marcia, my Polish grandmother taught me when I was a kid -- we use the head of a straight-pin dipped in melted paraffin wax. :)

Thank you, murraysmom and gazania. I agree that those cookies look great!

Moni, I just love Grape Hyacinths!

Party_music, we used candles and finishing nails pounded into wooden clothespins, then used the electric stove burners to heat rags to polish off the wax. Talk about a fire hazard! Those were the days :)

    I love grape hyacinths, too.
    Marcia

Yikes, Marcia!!! That does sound like quite the fire hazard!! But I would have loved to see you in action, I bet it was really cool!!
