Returns for central heat and air conditioners
Comments (4)Hello, I guess some people don't like me. Such is life. On to the plan. If you have sheet rock, the repairs aren't so bad. It is difficult to match some textures, but there aint nuthin that can't be fixed. If the first guy fails, get another, and another until you are happy. In remodeling, we have scraped the texture off and started over many times. We have removed very expensive paneling to do repairs. We have opened concrete walls, Block walls, to make repairs. My company has worked on many projects that looked impossible. Trying to use one return, is about like sharing your toothbrush with your next door neighbor. Replace the bad duct. Don't do anything unnecessary. Get a second opinion first....See MoreHow do I determine if I need a 3 ton or 4 ton air conditioner?
Comments (8)Hi April, In your past posts you stated the house has 2400 sq. ft. It is difficult for anyone on this forum to state what is the correct size for your air conditioner. The load calculation is the only way to do this properly. I would have much more faith in the contractor who took detailed measurements. It is likely the cooling load somewhere between 3 and 4 tons. One contractor may be rounding up, and the other down. The 2-stage Infinity AC would be a good choice. On the low stage it would be operating around 2.8 tons. You would be comfortable and do a great job of removing humidity. How many days a year does the temperature go above 90 degrees in the summer? I personally think a 21 SEER system is overkill for your part of the country. It is unlikely you will ever see a pay back of the additional cost over the 16 SEER unit....See MoreCentral air conditioner
Comments (6)In your climate, I would get a quote on several brands including Goodman. The cooling season is short in MN. T agree with Ryan, I personally would NOT go above a 14-SEER. First & foremost of importance is the correct order of proper procedures to follow for optimal efficiency of operation, & long trouble-free equipment performance. Before you do anything else, educate yourself enough to ensure that you request the proper things be done in the proper order of sequence. The ductwork system & airflow will need to be thoroughly checked. - udarrell Here is a link that might be useful: Air Conditioning & Ductwork Systems...See MoreNeed Help Choosing Replacement Central Air System
Comments (4)1 and 3 would need externally mounted hot water coils and the pump as you say. Be nice to have the all in one unit from First Co. The Bryant quoted can do 16 SEER but not on a mismatched air handler, probably more like 14 SEER. The variable speed blowers on 1 and 3 are nice as well. The Carrier is a 2 stage outdoor unit that rates up to 17 SEER and would qualify for the $1500 tax credit and maybe other utility or state incentives. The A-S proposal is the builder model, not the Allegiance. Not quite as nice of a unit. The system quoted is 14.75 SEER, if a different air handler is used, you'd get over 16 and a tax credit. Pretty dumb of him to quote you the 4TEE3F31....See MoreDoricee
