I believe Elise is responding to the "where are all the bees" Thread. If you notice the bees live in Washington and Elise in NewYork. Frankly I am glad to see that there is an alternative to honey bees for orchards and gardeners. Funny story...a lot of years ago I was refinishing a little side chair that would eventually have a new caned seat. I was going to do the caning. I had the chair under the carport and would work on it from time to time and several times I noticed that the holes for the caning were filled with mud. Thought the neighbor kids were plastering mud into my caning holes, cleaned it out, sanded some more and took another few days off. And this time about 10 of the holes were plugged!!... Eventiually I noticed the little bee busy starting her family in the holes for the caning on my chair. I took it into the screened porch to finish. Linda C

They are bees as a few occassionally fly into the house. We had them checked to make sure they were not africanized. We also observe them through binoculars from time to time to verify their habits and condition of the house as we know it will all have to be replaced. At this point they are not into the attic, although we have had a couple of strays, it is only a matter of time as there is access. I will keep looking for a bee keeper. I just wanted to know, I guess if there would be ones who would take it on reguardless of its size and location, since I am not concerned with the damage on the house as it is being replaced. You're not going to be able to supply all the plants needed to keep bees alive when they are active unless you own a lot of property and plant a lot of things. They are not like butterflies and host specific. They may feed on many things at different times of the day. I don't plant anything, just live in a location where they can safely travel a mile or two in any direction to forage. Jerry, the owner of the bees that live on the property, tells me we have the best tasting honey in the Norman area. I did quit using herbicides years ago and allow my acreage to look like a well maintained and mowed pasture. Clover, dandelion, and many other blooming "weeds" cover my property. This also easily allows me to photograph nature, insects, and especially butterflies. randy

I am excited about it..and want to do something impactful( is that a word?) with that amount. A statement somewhere. I kinda want to use in my kitchen but worried about grease, food splash. I will come up with something cool. Wish my bookcases were larger.
