Is this heat/sun damage or something else?

This is my Loyalist from last year. It has a pretty thin leaf. The only other thin, mostly white leaf hosta I have ever had totally crapped out last summer. When we got to the first part of August the white areas of the leaves on this plant started thinning and melting out, as shown in the first picture. Maybe there's a proper term for that which I am unaware of. After that point the leaves started disintegrating as shown in the second picture. I moved it into a total shade area at some point and it ceased and stayed as shown until it went dormant. It is coming out this year with three pips as opposed to the one it had last year and appears perfectly healthy. I'm assuming it was sun and/or heat damage but wanted to see what others thought. Thanks.
