Rounded drywall corners
Comments (19)We did two different things around our base, a piece of cherry in our more formal spaces and a drywall corner in our family areas. The drywall guy and I were a bit distressed when we realized that the base in the family room wasn't as high as in the formal areas. He had assumed it was as tall and put corners on to match that. If he had known the base was shorter, he would have used a shorter corner. As for paint transitions, we have a dark red and a lighter green from the stairwell to the downstairs family room. I think it looks fine, but my painter was the best! On a side note, we used plastic corners and some of them had a small edge on them, that the dry wall guy couldn't plaster over. The painter took a thin knife and just ran it along the edge, taking a bit of plastic off with it. This worked....See MoreShould I have rounded corners in new home?
Comments (19)I thought I was the only one who wants straight corners and no texture in a new build house! All the builders think I'm nuts and try and show me their lovely special "knock down" texture (I am going to have to put the "no texture" request in an addendum if we go with a production builder) and they insist the corners are worth the $900 or so they charge for them. No thank you. I agree that architectural style makes a huge difference in the discussion. I ant a cottage style homes so texture and rounded corners would just be jarring to me and take away from the "old" look. I've seen Spanish style, Tudor and deco houses that the corners really worked in, though....See MoreDrywall - How to tape round corner beads.
Comments (2)If you cover the actual corner with mud, then every time you bump into it there will be a chip. These metal corners are made as such to resist damage. You mud up to the corner and leave the actual corner metal. Prime and paint over all and it will look fine....See MoreBullnose drywall corners and baseboard
Comments (12)Annz Looks nice! I like the idea of a quarter round that matches the floor will have to look into it. My DH says your radius looks smaller than ours? we have 3/4 corner bullnose. When we cut the 22.5° angles or filler piece was almost twice as long as yours (I think)? Sierraeast...thanks for the link...had been to trimtex site too. I found one bullnose adaptor at a local moulding company (wood and supposed to match our trim, butit did not match the baseboard exactly...have to look into the trim tex products I guess but I bet they wont match...not too thrilled about their "stand alone corner" idea....See Moreakl_vdb
