Shriveling Ferocactus Latispinus

Hey y'all ! I'm having an issue with my Devil's tongue cactus that hopefully someone can help me with. I've had this little guy for a little over a year and it did have a little curve at the bottom when I bought it. I figured it was due to the change of light at some point in its life. I brought it in for the winter and all all of my plants were in a sw window. I usually water every three days (gritty mix), but during the winter I water every six days. I brought everything outside when temps hit 70° during the day and 45° at night and started and three day water schedule again. The root system looks healthy and the brown spot as well as the shriveled green part isn't soft. Anyone have any idea what this could be? Thanks in advance! - Sam
