What's wrong with them ???

FP is new to the fridge business, the parent was sold went bankrupt in new Zeland, and they have a small presence in the USA, which means they sell about eight fridges a year.

Blomberg is relatively new to the USA and has nit really gained any traction here. Their fridges are fairly small in size - which caters to a very small demographic. So, they sell about eight fridges a year.

Summit caters to the commercial market where you call up, order what meets your needs , and have it installed. There's no fancy showroom, interactive you tubing showing the fancy hinges or spill proof racks, and the sales people aren't programmed to kiss ()/$(/$)$:)&.

What's this mean for you? These brands don't have a lot of dealers and even fewer that stock displays because they are not big volume products. So, you're left to order one and roll the dice.

FP isn't new to the refrigerator business. The E522 variant is on the market for the better part of 12 years now. We sold over 100 refrigerators in our store last year with very few problems. We have had great luck with them over the past decade. Haier bought them out and runs it as a separate division (so far)

Blomberg is a nice unit. The controls/shelving leave something to be desired but we do a lot of them in Manhattan as replacement units. So far so good (about 3 years now).

Summit I would avoid. Poor service, poor parts and poor availability. Most summit units are bought from Europe or china and made to fit summit's needs. Would avoid

The question is where you live. If you are in or around an Urban area, support should be fine. If you live in a rural area, I would avoid all of them. If you have a problem, service and parts are going to be VERY difficult to get.

We have a F&P counter depth bottom freezer unit now and I have been more than satisfied with the available space and performance for our small household. Quiet and keeps temperature well. It is being replaced by a larger french door unit, but we will relocate and keep the F&P because it still works fine after 7 years.

I went at looked at fridges today. Could not find the Summit anywhere, but an appliance salesman told me almost exactly the same thing thing that Joe said - poor service, etc. I saw a Blomberg and was not at all impressed. The door to the fridge did not open 90 degrees, and there was no way to remove the (one) crisper. Also seemed kind of flimsy. I like the Fisher Paykel quite a bit. I will ask about availability of servicing in my area. I do live in a rural area so that could be a concern.

I also have a FP single door, bottom freezer. Slightly over 31 inches. It is so quiet, holds plenty, looks great. I've had it almost a year now and love it. We are getting another for another house. We also looked at the Blomberg before ordering the FP but shelving is hardly customizable and it's actually a few inches deeper in depth compared to FP. I did not care for it at all. Quality wise FP is much nicer.
