How to program heat strips staging Greenspeed WiFi Thermostat
Comments (5)>This isn't about comfort, this is about cutting costs. Exactly. That's why I said, it optimizes both comfort and energy savings. The whole selling point of this system is how it intelligently manages everything. It will only call on anything above first stage heat if it is absolutely needed. Staging heat strips based on time is one of the LEAST efficient ways to run them. What if it's running for 20 minutes, and the timer says it needs to add more aux heat, but that isn't really necessary? When temps get low and you begin to supplement with wood, the system will find it much easier to keep up, and therefore keep aux heat use down. The only things you need to do are set an appropriate aux heat lockout (which you already did) and NOT set back your thermostat. Setting back is what leads to high stages of aux heat being called unnecessarily....See MoreHoneywell Wi-Fi thermostat Transformer?
Comments (12)I'm trying to figure out how to reply to each response but I'm just not seeing it so. Thanks Steve for the formula. jreagan this is a bare bones AC transformer that needs an enclosure and maybe a ground somewhere. That brings me to the power cord that has 3 wires. I was hoping for a simpler solution like a RadioShack device with built in plastic case. dennisgli this link shows something like what I have. Comments (11)It is where it is and isn't moving. This is the same dealer who did a system (single speed heat pump with electric strip backup) for one of my neighbor's rent houses (which didn't previously have a central system). He had a bunch of trouble, ranging from the thermostat (not this S30 model) set for the wrong system type (they didn't get it right after a couple return trips so he researched and corrected it himself) to a too-small heat strip NOT what the contract stated (they did that purposely because the wiring was also too small and they had to re-wire when he pinned them down to install the correct heat strip capacity). I warned dad about all that but he went with this dealer anyway, and is happy with the results (thus far). Remains to be seen if the thermostat configuration is or isn't fouled-up ... and I'm not going to mess with it myself....See MoreWiFi switch wiring help
Comments (1)Generally speaking N=Neutral= (usually)White & L=Line=(usually)Black. If you didn't know that already, you shouldn't be working on anything inside that electrical box. Do yourself a favor and hire an electrician to install this for you, or take the time to learn basic electrical skills before tackling this....See MorePark Ji Yeon
