Dishwasher for small counter tops

Recently have bought a house and want to take out some cabinets and install a dishwaser. Here's the dilemma, my countertops are only 20" deep (I believe 24" is standard.) does anyone know of a dishwasher than was fit under a 20" counter? I think they exist but not having much luck finding one.

My sink run is 21 inches deep including a one inch countertop overhang. We managed to squeeze a Bosch 800 series in there, though it does stick out a bit. I'd try looking on AJ Madison and reading dimensions carefully. Also maybe a google search, I think I found a blog by someone who had installed a Bosch much like ours when I googled.

You may want to look up Miele and Bosch. Frigidaire also looks to have one (think it is a relatively new product). Miele is by far the more expensive but the reviews are very positive. Here is a comparison thread which may be of help to you

I changed the non-working outlets on the counter top and made sure the wires were connected tightly. I still am not getting any power. The voltage tester is lighting up when I place it on the black wire and the white wire as well. I don't think the white wire should power the tester? right? Any thoughts on this? thanks

Ours had the option of 4 screws through the sides or 2 in the sides and 2 into the underside of the counter. We went with 4 through the sides rather than having the fabricator risk the counter. It also makes it easier to swap out dishwashers when it goes.

These are my pics of my countertops placed Friday June 22, 2018. I cried looking at these seams. It looks so cheap. Fabricator explains that's the way it comes. I explained that I shouldn't be able to see the seams so clearly. It looks so unprofessional. They ended up taking them back to their warehouse. In hopes they say if it is quality control will try and fix it just to make it look better. Otherwise I will have to pay an additional fee for them to come out again to install. I just don't know what to do and if still looks the same. This is the first time I've replaced my counters in 24 years. I don't and can't live with it. looking at this for another 24 years. It looks so cheap and it really was not it's a lot of money to me. I hope fingers crossed that they will fix this problem. They never told me that there would be such seams. I thought the edges were done by a machine and it would be all one piece. I have read up on this and now understand there are seams. But now I do know that they should not look like this. If they are good fabricator you shouldn't be able to see them so clearly. I will find out next week what happens.

You're just now getting a dishwasher and are opting for a countertop unit due to space considerations? They're hugely restricted for capacity and rack layout. I bought a Danby a few years ago, mostly to play with it. It ended up going to a friend for use at a garage apartment at one of this rental properties. The renters never used it and he took it out at the last occupancy change. It's an interesting machine, however. Has assured water heating to 140°F (or maybe 155°F), presumably for use in an RV or on a boat/yacht with limited hot water availability. Uses a lot of power for the dishload capacity. Cleaned nicely the couple times I used it, but has a manual-clean filter that retains food debris and should be cleaned after each run.

I don't think the OPer is looking for an 18 inch wide dishwasher? I understood the problem to be a shallower than standard cabinet run--so 20 inches front to back. Perhaps I misunderstood?

saabiar - you may have already considered this, but... is a neatly done bumpout for the DW out of the picture?

slightly under 22" dishwashers

Looks like 21 5/16th is the least deep.

Blombergs (24 or 18 inch wide) are 21 1/2 " deep.

I took a look at the space again last night, I think if it sticks out a little there is a door frame on the right side that may be flush with the right hand side. I will take a look at the blomberg. I would prefer a 24 inch if that is possible. What exactly is a bumpout?

Saabiar, I suggest you take some pictures and draw up a diagram of the layout. A kitchen with only 21" deep cabinets and no DW will need more than just a bumpout to accomplish getting the DW shoehorned in. If you're handy, and doing the work yourself, including the electrical and plumbing, its probably a cost effective stopgap solution. If you aren't handy, and have to pay a contractor to do it, those dollars may be better spent in reimagining the space with a new layout and maybe some Ikea solutions for replacement.

A bumpout is just a small extension of the counter to house the DW - in this case of the counter. That is just one option..as LWO says, in the absence of a pictures/ layout, you may be missing out on valuable perspectives/ advice from the forum.
