Pro & con: bottom tray or bin.
Comments (5)I would think it is a personal choice. A tote/the lid would both equally well for catching any leachate. As Eric mentioned, having leachate at all, is a sign of too much liquid in the bin. Excess liquid is easily managed sucking it out with a turkey baster, or adding dry shredded paper. I have 4 bins, and none have holes for drainage. You could add holes along the perimeter a couple inches from the bottom for extra aeration though....See MorePros or Cons to bump out at sink???
Comments (22)We bumped the window out like moccasin suggested. Now I have plenty of room for potted plants behind the sink. And it also cuts down on water being splashed onto the window. My husband has huge hands and he likes to shake the water off of them at the sink. I was afraid that if I had the window installed counter height that he'd be forever shaking the water onto the glass. But with the window being bumped out 8" this rarely happens. I do like the look of a sink bumped forward, but if it doesn't offer more space behind the sink then I don't see the big advantage except for looks. I wonder if a bumped out sink will go out of style and look dated any time soon. Certainly nothing that would stop me from doing it if I loved it . . . but if you are concerned about resale then something to consider I suppose....See Moreuh oh...can tilt out tray but installed AFTER granite
Comments (4)Certainly easier if there were no countertop or sink, if you can make that opportunity happen! DH and I did a retro install in the existing kitchen. after trying to follow the instructions, DH ended up doing the reverse of the instructions, with me holding the hinges in the proper place while open. I forget now which was supposed to be first, putting the hinges on the frame or the "door". Plenty of creative language during the whole exercise. :) But it did get done and I love having a hideaway for my sponge and scrubber. (I live in NM so any extra humidity from having the sponge "inside" the cabinet is helpful :) ). cheers...See MoreSink tilt out
Comments (16)I had one in my previous house, but didn't in my current. I made sure it was added in my remodel. The "standard" ones were too deep, so my cabinet maker installed the narrower profile ones. I have a 36" sink base. On one side is where I keep a supply of Finish tablets for the DW (the bulk box from Costco is too mig for under the sink). The other side is used to store some cloth wipes, milk bottle caps and the drain stopper. I don't put anything wet in there. The sponge just sits on the sink grid where it can air dry....See MoreRelated Professionals
