For Rayball Obviously, you were not paying attention to my posts and recommendation. The main purpose of the Greenspeed is the low temp feature and the HSPF heating efficiency. That's what you are paying for. While the 003 air handler is an AHRI Directory match, it is not the best match as far as HSPF. There is a significant difference from a 10.5 HSPF to a 12-13 HSPF. Probably not but plan on higher operating costs in the winter. The 2 areas that take a hit are the cooling BTUs and the HSPF heating efficiency. Ok, I am sorry for bugging yall again... but I do appreciate you all helping me. I have been thinking. How does this sound, and tell me please if I need something else? I am going to ask for the Infinity Gas furnace- and matching control (thermostat?) as I said, I really don't even know what to ask for but in doing research and carrier left me a brochure I was reading through it, and see some nice reviews about it. For now I am not concerned about a heat pump, or even an air conditioner. However, is there a such thing as an air conditioner that matches the infinity gas furnace? Please, I know yall base answers on best product for least amount of $, however, I have only one shot to get the funds for this furnace. and I want the best. the best because I know it will last me a long time. I do not care about bells and whistles, No. I just want the best. and as before, tere will have to be new ducts, vents, and anything else that goes with a new system. Is one stage better than 2 stage? what is variable speed? what is a box filter? what is a condensing fan? please, please help me figure this one out, so at least I will know some of what I am asking for and not just accepting what they are telling me? and what seer? of furnace should I ask for or need? thank you in advance. I lived in eastern Idaho 11 years (Blackfoot) and agree that a wood stove will be your best source of backup heat or even main heat. Your temp of -8 is only the beginning as your know. It's not uncommon to get days and even weeks of -25 to -35 below zero. That's when the Snake River freezes. When I lived there I had cable electric in the ceiling and my woodstove downstairs. I basically shut off the cable electric and heated the entire home (1,600 sq. feet total top and bottom) the entire winter with 5 cord of wood. During December, January and February, the bugger ran 24/7. My home had 6 inch walls, aluminum pane windows (not very efficient) and R-41 in the attic. I've wondered whether a heat pump would be good for that area but now that the Greenspeed is out I think it might be your best option aside from wood heat.

Hi. Yes that noise is NOT NORMAL. I have a 4 ton Greenspeed. Do you have version 9 on that thermostat ? Mine did and propane Greenspeed furnace would go on when heat pump was suppose to reign. They changed my thermostat and this time with version 10 software which now seems to fix my problems. It's a science these Greenspeeds that even some Carrier Reps don't fully understand. Carrier is expecting too much from 3rd party tech. with this leading edge technology. Politely demand a local carrier Rep to talk with your installers. Tell Carrier it can only help with tech training on their proprietary Greenspeed technology. My issue right now is that the Celcius setting is not real CSA format for a thermostat. In celcius mode Carrier does not offer .5 increment settings (as of version 10) so I cannot get 71 F which is 21.5C. I have to change to Farenheith and when I go back to Celcius my original Celcius settings are now skewed. Besides these little bugs I like the system. it is quiet. starts to become noticeable at -15C and colder. I was surpised when the gas furnace was switched off and the heat pump took over at -23C for awhile. can't complain about saving $$$. my other beef is carrier did not allow firmware mods to accommodate an HRV unit other than their own with an added $300 NIM interface. they want a digital to analogue conversion for a simple thing called an HRV. They did it right with a humidifier hookup - using analogue terminals - why not an HRV for on or off depending if dehumidyfier is needed. Other than that I hope to enjoy saving $$$ on heating costs.
