No grandeur here. Todays issue of my growing up years hometown newspaper has this picture and article on the front page. Country churches were established to provide a place for worship in close proximity to the residents scattered around a certain area. For instance, the Oak Ridge Union Church has served families in the Erhard, McCartney and Oak Ridge areas since 1906 when some men of different denominations determined the need for a central place of worship for everyone; a place where those from various religious persuasions would feel comfortable. As people have moved from the country to towns and cities, and travel is more efficient than the days of horse and buggy, country churches would seem unnecessary. But, they are still strong and operate with a determination to provide what their founders intended - a place of worship for people in the small communities where they live.

That reminds me of this picture of the waterfront area of Constance, Germany. The giant statue in the harbor, was commissioned from a famous local artist, who agreed on the condition that he could make whatever he wanted and the town couldn't see it until it was finished and installed. He made this statue of a scantily clad woman holding two wizened, shriveled figures in the palms of her hands. One represents the king or emperor and the other represents the pope. Some in the town were outraged when the statue was unveiled.

Had to :D about your "lap holder downer". And Nicole's "sheets tester" is giving a look I'd more expect from Toothless, the dragon. Alas, no pets here anymore. So I'll share a photo of a bromeliad from my garden. It has been getting a lot of winter sun, so the red is nice right now. As you can see, it lives under some pines--I was too lazy, and wary of the spines, to clean the centers.

Joanmn, what a sweetie you have there! Darn, I was thinking that I have no cat pics to add, but yes I do!. This is one of the kitties of one of the KT's dearest friends, Nita! Haven't seen her here in ages. Hope all is well with her. Pic taken almost 3 years ago when Nita and Mike were in my driveway for a couple days.
