Just had my bedroom repainted and am having serious doubts
Comments (12)I used a similar color, Glidden Silver Cloud. Mine is a bit more grey than blue, though. It was shocking at first, as the room was originally antique white, with a very dark merlot accent wall. The new paint felt very pastel (which I don't like) at first. I hung charcoal grey linen curtains with white sheers, tufted chairs in front of the fireplace in the same charcoal linen, a white Matelasse on the bed with a white/grey duvet folded at the foot. I added pops of color with turquoise velvet pillows and art above the bed that included the silver blue wall color, charcoal curtain color, and turquoise. Now, I love it....See MoreNeed help decorating my bedroom!
Comments (27)Bed is arriving today and all I have are sheets :( So many decisions. I think I will go with the charcoal gray square headboard, even thought it is pretty expensive. I am drawn to the tufting so I'd like to keep that. I will go with a lighter shade of gray for the bedding and add different shades of blush and gray pillows. I still am unsure of drapes. I am meeting with painter about the dresser colors. Clair Pope - I'm embarrassed to admit but I actually got the canvas painting at Hobby Lobby :) I love reading everyone's comments. This is just what I needed. Keep them coming if anyone has ideas on bedspread and drapes. Thank you everyone!!...See Morei need help with repainti g my bedroom and also new decor...

Comments (16)Congratulations on your new home! I have, like others who have responded to your post, had considerable luck with garage sales, estate sales, and thrift shops. Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Goodwill, Salvation Army, and St. Vincent de Paul can all be good sources for furniture and housewares. Nextdoor can be a good source for free or reasonably priced items (I know this from experience; others have had success with Craigslist and/or Freecycle, but I have not bought anything on either of those sites). Discount stores (Target, Walmart, and the like) can be fruitful, as can IKEA (you may want to check reviews of products on the internet before buying). I have even had some luck in finding items that have been placed at curbside or next to dumpsters for disposal but happened to be just what I needed for a particular purpose. Be wary of used cushions and pillows, as they may harbor vermin; if you buy such items used, have them cleaned thoroughly. Create idea books, but set a realistic budget and stick to it....See Moreamykath
