herbs for sleeping?
Comments (8)I'll follow Heathen's song and dance routine! Healthy diet and adequate exercise and a good routine of regular hours are the best ways of getting a good night's sleep. Keeping things calm and quiet before bedtime - no loud music, no scary movies, no caffeine etc will also help. Make a bedtime routine which lasts at least an hour. You know - the relaxing bath (with lavender tossed in), the quiet music, the facial thing, the sitting in front of mirror brushing out hair - all these things are relaxing to the body and the mind, and put you in the mood for sleep. Also, no large, hard-to-digest meals at night, and keep the sugar to a minimum. Try making a sleep pillow. Lavender and hops flowers are the best fillings, alone or together, maybe with some rose petals, and here's another recipe: Sleep Pillow Mixture: 30g rosemary flowers 30g jasmine 30g lavender flowers 15g chamomile flowers 1 tablespoon marjoram 2 teaspoons ground cloves 1 teaspoon aniseed 1 tablespoon orris root powder bergamot essential oil Lavender is well known and proven as a relaxant. Burn some lavender incense or oil in your bedroom, sprinkle some lavender oil on your pillow or whatever. Lemon balm is a good relaxant for some, but it can cause night sweating, which isn't exactly conducive to a good night's sleep! The other herbs mentioned by Heathen can also help some people. Other causes for poor sleep patterns can be basic things like the state of your mattress (too soft, too hard, more than 10 years old - next time you strip down your bed, squat down on the floor and eye up your mattress and check for any hills and valleys - you might get a nasty surprise!), whether your room is too hot or too cold, whether you have too many heavy blankets, your pillow night not be right for you, too many bright colours in the bedroom, windows closed so not enough fresh air circulating etc. You really should discuss this with your doctor. There can be many medical causes for poor sleep patterns. However, I reiterate - it's most commonly a life-style thing....See MoreRecommendations for an Air mattress
Comments (21)Aww, just take along some old heavy blankets and a good sleeping bag, and a nice pillow--drink 2 beers, or a hot toddy, go to bed and you'll sleep all night. No worry about the air mattress deflating on ya! Fold the blankets to make a pad under the bag. Heck, if ya need an air mattress to keep ya comfy, then go rent a room in a motel, and stay there! I've slept on the ground all over the world. The camping in France was a bit dangerous, but i survived it. The camping here in the states was a lot safer, but we survived that too!...See MoreMattress-King Koil or Corsicana?
Comments (1)Hello lennym, I do not know either brand well enough to have an across the board favorite. My recomendation is three fold. :make sure the custom cut you are receiving will have the same features as the floor model you try out. Once our business ordered a special size mattress which showed up without the foam encased sides omthe model usually featured! :make sure you are conoaring apples to apples. Pocketed / individually wrapped coils are typically a higher end feature than regular innersprings. A definate plus when two folks share the bed. :go with your gut and the BBB's opinion on which retailer to buy from....See MoreRowe Furniture: Good or Bad?
Comments (126)New custom purchase Rowe Sofa 2 chairs and ottoman... I posted earlier, about the sectional that I've had for 22 years that I loved. It held up really well. I was hesitant to go with Rowe again because of all the negative reviews. But, I've been searching for so long, and I really like their styles and th sales rep, said they have been selling the Rowe for many years and the quality is great and they don't have any issues.... I did some digging,... Markor acquired Rowe in 2018...Markor, founded in 1990 by Richard Feng, chairman and CEO, owns four U.S. subsidiaries — A.R.T. Furniture, Caracole, Jonathan Charles, and Rowe Furniture — and operates 10 advanced manufacturing facilities in China. Rowe is still made and manufactured in NC. So after a lot of research and shopping, I caved and ordered from Rowe...took 3 months to receive...not bad at all. The furniture is beautiful and comfy so far. ***Here is what you should know, if you decide to from Rowe. The specs on their website are completely off. Someone mentioned this in a post, that the height of their sofa was 3" lower than it was supposed to be, I was hopeful that was just a on off. *Sofa specs from Rowe: L 110" D 46" H35" seat H 21" seat D 27" Arm H 24" between cushions 96" ***What I received....L 105" D 42" H 32" seat H 19" seat D 27" Arm H 24" between cushions 96" my chairs were off as well seat H 19 instead of 21, and W .is off by 2" and H is 32" instead of 35" I'm most bummed about the Height of the back of the sofa and chairs, 3" is a lot when you want to lean your head back, the seat height is off but still a good height...the back coushions on my sofa are sorter than pic on website...by probably 3 inches.... Soooo having said this...I'm really happy with the look and quality, I've only had it for a week now, so I will give updates...it's beautiful and looks to be made well... I didn't do the down wrap, because I don't like the slouchy messy look...in one showroom they told me that use the luxe, faux down which bounces back and doesn't get flat looking holds up better.., so that is what I did, it's very comfortable I might ask to get taller cushions for that back of the sofa, I think that would help, but not sure if they will do that. if you purchase just be prepared for the specs to not be exact...I don't mind about it much except for the height... that makes a huge difference in my opinion....See More- 11 years ago
