toxic to the dog?
Comments (4)Sunny, sorry about your pooch. That's terrible. They scare us so much when sick. If only they could tell us what's bothering them. I have a question about onions..'IF' a dog ate an onion, would happen? My dogs can't stand the smell of onions. On wkends, we order out. We always get something for our two dogs. Either hot dogs or cheese burgers..my little dog won't go near his bowl if a piece of onion is inside..the larger dog sorts through his food, won't touch an onion..Even when I cook, chop an onion, both dogs back off..they hate the smell. lol You wouldn't believe the number of plants that can harm a pet, but it depends on the pet. My friends Cockatiel ate an entire Hedera Helix, 'Ivy' which is considered fatal to birds..it didn't bother him in the least. A similar thing happened to one of my birds. He ate an Ardisia/Corel Berry, which again is supposed to be fatal. I watched him throughout the night..he played, ate and pooped..This happened a couple years ago..he's fine. Check Dog, Bird and Cat Fancy magazines or online sites. They list many toxic plants..Not necessarily fatal..Some plants, when ingested can cause tummy upset. I think CC are on the toxic list, too. Many common plants sold at your local grocery store are poisonous.. Since your girl is a living mop, 'like one of my guys,' be careful when carrying plants around, 'pick up leaves from the floor,' and place where she can't get them. Please don't take this the wrong way, 'since you don't recall dropping leaves from your Cyclamen,' some vets take a guess when our pups/kittens/birds get sick. If they can't find a reason, they make guesses. I've seen it and heard similiar stories. Vets are no different than people doctors. Unless an illness is obvious, they come up with questionable reasons, excuses. Still, better safe than sorry.. I hope your dog is better..How is she acting? Comments (14)okay, so I went back and took the time to watch the videos. They were cute and funny. The animals talking made me laugh. The cat said she thought the lawn care truck was spraying to mark its territory... hee, hee... I didn't get the "anything you buy from a box store will harm your pets" impression that texas-weed got... I tend to agree with the point in the second video about reading the label and following directions... I can't see how anyone can disagree with that. However I think, and the video subtly hints at this... That if people read the label, and they have pets (or children), perhaps they won't use the products. There are proven ways to maintain a lawn that is healthier for pets than using chemicals. I got the impression that future videos on that page may focus on "organic" lawn care. How many posts on these forums have no credibility or substance? I don't think the link needs to be deleted. Its amusing with an obvious bias... so what?...See MoreHostas and my dogs
Comments (2)KoiDom, I really like your bamboo warning fence We used Repel AWAY! crystals to keep our beloved dog, and the neighbor's predatory cat, out of our hostas. The price on this stuff varies a lot, usually from $9 to $12 for the exact same size, so shop around a little bit. I think PetSmart's site has it, and Petco's doesn't, or vice versa. It smells okay to humans, and is non-toxic. It looks sort of like a very short-necked translucent ketchup bottle, with a blue-green mush inside (the damp crystals)....See MoreIvermectin .05% oral solution ....for dogs/cats
Comments (9)This stuff comes with dosages for cats and dogs ... Also cats do get heartworms too so it is used for heartworm prevention in cats as well as dogs ... I do not give this to my cats but i could.... People do use it like what ? As an injection ? Yes thats the original intent of ivomec ... My dad knows how to get the dose right and i always did it under his supervision .... We only did it for our larger animals .....bought the stuff from the vet for the little dogs ..... Now i use the .05 % orally for my dogs ...have for years and my dogs are fine .... Once again im not using ivomec 1% solution im using a .05% ivermectin solution so dosage is easier to figure even for smaller dogs and cats....i would never give my pet something i thought was unsafe...See Morehostaholic2 z 4, MN
