thermadore vs.dacore vs any recommandations
Comments (5)Scratchin' my head over why both previous posters added an "e" to these companies' names. You'll be better able to search this forum and the internet in general for information about these companies if you spell them correctly, Thermador and Dacor. You should note that the Bluestar ranges have open burners, not sealed like the Dacor and Thermador. Many people on this forum are fervent proponents of open burners. Which goes against general popular view that sealed burners are preferred. You should do research to decide whether you would like open burners; there've been a couple of threads on this forum about the pros and cons. Thermador seems to be panned a lot on this forum. At the simmer level the Thermador burners click which is annoying. Dacors get very mixed reviews. Some love them, some have had a lot of problems. What kind of exhaust will you have for these high-powered ranges? Make sure your ductwork is enough for a high-btu range....See MoreHigh-End Appliance Discounts
Comments (41)rknee I'd be curious to know which Lexus model you were asking about, and what the discount was. Can you take delivery of that car this month, is it an 09 model or 08 and unless you recieved a signed order form stating the price (hopefully discounted for real) all you have is a sales pitch. Great on the appliances, but a package leads me to believe you weren't just shopping UMRP appliances. I could sell you all wolf stuff and give you a whatever not subject to UMRP, no charge delivery, and as long as I still make money everyone is happy. Wolf is happy, your happy. It only matters long term for me if I don't make money, I'll probably fold shop. You won't care because your unlikely to buy another set of appliances for a while, and I'm sure you could find another niave appliance guy when the time comes. At the end of the day you will look out for your bottom line and I'll look for mine. It's the way the free market works. Fortunately for both there are plentyof choices for both dealers and customers....See MoreThermador reliability vs Wolf or Dacor ovens and cooktops
Comments (14)Thermador is extremeley reliable. I had a Thermador 36" electric coil cooktop for 18 years, 4 burners and griddle in the middle, not one problem, still works, but we did a big house reno including the kitchen, so went with new appliances. I now have the Thermador built in oven, very good unit, largest capacity out there too. It is pure convection, pure convention or combo of the two. The only small negative I have is the spacings of bars on the oven racks themselves are a bit wide, only time I notice it is if I do a large batch of banana loaves and instead of doing 2 large loaves, I make 6 mini loaves. Then you have to space the mini loaf pans exactly right so they dont keel a bit. I went with a Viking 6 burner induction cooktop. I had a Dacor built in oven previously, same type of model, either pure convection, pure convention or a combo, worked great, but had a few issues at the end, ie: sensor went (they dont have thermometers) and was fairly expensive to replace. Also, Dacor does not seem to keep parts in supply for as long. If I kept it much longer and would need parts, some would not be available. My friend has a Thermador star burner gas cooktop, she likes it a lot and has no problem with simmering. I would buy Thermador again in the blink of an eye, they are extremely reliable from my experience....See MoreIncreased price for high end appliances
Comments (50)Posted by trevorlawson (My Page) on Fri, Dec 5, 14 at 19:01 Its true manufactures are not allowed to force a retailer to sell at a set price. But what they can do if a retailer is caught underselling is stop selling to them.... Most appliance manufactures do increase the prices once per year, beginning of the year is the choice of most. Normally the average price increase is 3%-8%. re: there are a few things that can happen when a dealer is selling under UMRP for a period of time. If the product has a volume rebate ( a kickback the dealer gets at the end of the year for being loyal to one brand ) they can with hold the rebate which costs the dealer money at the end of the year if they see occurrences of selling under UMRP. The second penalty is that some high end appliance distributors will stop selling to the dealer who continually sells under UMRP. . The third penalty is that they can declare them an unauthorized dealer and the remainder of there stock will not be covered under the manufacturers warranty when sold. Every manufacturer in the industry handles this differently and there tolerances vary. When the product has a running change ( meaning the features change without changing the model number then the dealer has a right to sell it off at a discounted price. They may or may not disclose to the customer that they are selling last years design. Some differences can be a subtle as lighting changes from halogen to LED> Typically the manufacturers impose price increases as cost of material goes up ( such as stainless steel ) and these increases are handed down usually once a year....See MoreMichele Moore
