Please help with kitchen pass through to greatroom - need pics
Comments (13)I iron my clothes every morning as well. There may be no choice as to have the laundry room as is and just find somewhere to put it neatly. I've seen large cabinets that hold ironing boards, brooms, mops, etc., but I don't think there's room for that either. Hopefully, we can discuss our options with the builder this week. That's too funny about your not making the turn. I haven't even thought about that.....this is our first garage. My husband wanted to add an attached storage building (for mower), so at least he will probably get use out of the door. I was unsure at first, but the builder is making it to look like part of the house with shingles and a window, so I think it will look nice. I didn't want it to stick out like a sore thumb... We have to make the final decisions regarding the laundry room or anything that will change the exterior. I'm hoping we can do that this week so that that they can started with the footing/foundation. We just got the permit from the city on Friday. How about you and where are you from by the way?...See MorePass Through question...need help
Comments (3)We have a pass through and I ended up asking my cabinet co. to build a desk on the family room side. It is the same level as the pass through, so I will have one piece of soapstone cover the sill and desk. It can be used to set up drinks/food, another place to eat, or just a desk area. I'm really glad I added it in!...See MoreCreated pass through to dining room from kitchen
Comments (6)Thanks, the house is a raised beach bungalow that was actually wide open(other than the completely closed off kitchen) when we bought it. We added the craftsman details ourselves when we first purchased including the bookcases that divide the living room from dining area as I needed a place for our homeschooling books to be stored. It is not a true craftsman home but it suits the style fairly well.. Yes the header can go. It's a truss frame and side walls are bearing. The kitchen table will be going and there will be an island but it will only be big enough to accommodate two stools. We are a large family with young children and teens and felt that having the island area and peninsula area for additional seating for quick meals and snacks would be beneficial, but mostly I wanted the peninsula for serving food into the dining room table. At first we weren't going to do stools. I was just going to take the cap part of the wall off and have granite extend over cabinets and wall to make a level serving area. Then we decided to do the shallow cabinets pulled forward to allow a recessed stool area for no back stools. I have an inspiration photo from pinterest but don't know if that is against the rules. Here's a couple of photo renderings but the peninsula wall is different on both and neither is accurate at the moment for what we have planned.(adding in regards to the peninsula, everything else is correct)...See MoreFurniture Layout help for pass-through living room
Comments (3)That is not helping and IMO wait until you are in before buying anything. If you post a plan to scale showing all windows doorways , where the doorways lead then we can maybe help with the basics . We also need to know what your style is. My advice is get a designer to help . If budget is an issue go shopping find a store where you like the style and use the on site designer to help with the basics ....See Moreannaw_123
