Comments (29)Arlene: I'm so jealous of your gardens. Every one of them is beautiful. Takes your breath away just looking at them. You definitely have wonderful tastes, lots of landscaping talent and a big green thumb!!! Simply beautiful! You also have great photography talent. Although, there is one pic in particular which scares the heebeegees outta me and that's the very first pic of that BIG UGLY wheel bug. UGH!!! OMG!!! I had to google it and read some very interesting info on it. I've never seen one around (hope I never do either....I'd never go out in the garden again!!) Thanks for posting that pic too, though, as I found it interesting, although that bug is one UGLY SCAREY BUG! Bree...See MoreFantastic Flickr Stars Shining Brightly
Comments (4)hi I completely relandscaped my area after the hurricanes and the trees are just now getting lage enough for epi's Will be sharply divided between deep shade and western sun. plus the border tree schizolobium defoliates during cold spells . I have planted an epicatt and several ferns . The crown screams for some type of epi!! lol Will have to be a tough one as during the year will go from deep shade to full sun but for short periods of time not seasonally lol Also due to the structure of the crown will be either very wet or very dry . And since it is around 20 feet from the ground will not only be hard to see will be difficult to tend . I know epiphyllums to be very tough and of course there are a gazillion varieties and there are no more spectacular flowers.. I'm using conjoined queeen palms for a bed for Vandaceous orchids (have 8 kinds ) Have spectacular growth but limited flowering . I blame that on the low crown of the palm but are maturing so in the summer this year will be in almost full sun. I'm going to quit maintaining my shadehouse so the orchids will be from these Mostly epicatts hybrid catts and Brassidiums. The main planting will be on some Cassia roxburghii and some plumeria. wasn't sure about the very smooth bark of the plumeria and of course they seasonally defoliate but is still shaded by the cassia. To the east end I've started a bed of Tree ferns and have no idea how they will be at supporting epis. Thinking terete vandas and epidendrums the tree ferns are located under the neighbors areca palms so probably too shady but feel certain they will grow Anyway you've given me a lot to think about but I recently located some "oddball" epiphytes with some odd habits . They donot fit into my plan but couldn't pass them up lol Won't be doing any serios palnting until winter passes . I'm putting in some hardscape as well as revamping my water gardens lol Thanks for the info!!! gary...See MoreFlickr
Comments (11)Well thank you all. I was hoping there would be more Flickr members who wanted to share their photos. Thank you for posting Suzanne. The really weird thing is I went to your page and realized I had looked at it the other day and didn't know it was you! I remember looking at the photo of the fallen barn...just a day or two ago! I like how your photos tell stories. The barbershop and the store...I liked the pinup/jeep photo too (plus your chihuahua really is the cutest). Suzanne's right about the groups. If you take a photo of something there is a group of people with a photo pool about it. I like the tagging aspects of the site. It lets you and others search easily for photos with certain 'tags' you give the work. If I take a photo of a circus scene I might tag it with -circus, clowns, fun, tent, trapeze, popcorn, etc... Sheila, I use a really simple point and shoot, a Kodak C875. If you click on someone's photo it brings up the technical information on the bottom right under Additional Information. I don't use a special lens. I'd love to use a digital SLR with variable lenses but it's not in the budget right now. Essentially I shoot the heck out of something. Usually there's a few shots with good focus. Then it's just a question of cropping....See MoreGarden Web won't let me post pics from Flickr now - super lame
Comments (7)I just posted this by grabbing the html code on Flicker and copy and pasting it into the text. You get to it on flicker now by clicking on the finger pointing at the box. I had a lot of problems with flicker last week with their constant changing. They pushed me into the new (sucky) BETA EXPERIENCE. Pictures are bigger but the comment space and tittle space are much small and the way to get to the HTML /BBC code is much more convoluted and enigmatic. But I couldn't get to them at all because when I clicked on the cute finger pointing at he box thing, it brought up a box but it was hidden behind the photo. I could just see its edge. I did complain to flicker and they did fix it. It took a couple of days. Now I go to that box and it pulls up a window with some weird symbols that make no sense but through experimentation and deductive reasoning I realize that the symbols mean html and bbc. One is a tac and I can't remember the other already. They are not intuitive examples of graffics. Yesterday I woke up and I found myself back in the old Flicker. So they got that part of the complaint tooâ¦..Or maybe it was all a bad dream. I went to frequently asked questions on their help line and described my problem in a email form that they had, and they did get to it. I can't remember how I found the help line. I get lost on sites and sometimes I get lost right but I would not know how to get back there. All these changes to the worse is making me anxious and down right beeetchy. I was thinking of going to Flickriver. Apple is doing this dumbing down action too. They are screwing up all their software....See Morealmosthooked zone5
