Shitake Quartz Countertops with White Cabs?

We had decided on blue pearl granite for our kitchen. We intend to paint the cabinets white.

We visited Ikea tonight and DH and I fell in love with Caesarstone Shitake. We're not big fans of granite and Blue Pearl was kind of a compromise choice for us. The price should be about the same.

Does anyone here have Shitake with white cabinets? I've seen some pictures online but I'm not sure that I like the combination that much. It looks like the Shitake is warmer than the crisp whites they are paired with. I think this kitchen looks really nice (cream colored cabinets with Shitake).

I'm worried that it might look too brown when it's in the kitchen although when DH and I held up our paint chip for BM Revere Pewter it looks like it's the same color which suggests it's got more gray in it.

We're not changing out the floors yet. They are whitish/grayish tiles.

Our ikea had a display kitchen in adel white + shitake. sorry, no picture- and it was an akurum display so down now. But it was gorgeous. By far my favorite of the displays. In my opinion, shitake was a perfect blend of gray and brown. I feel like it was darker than revere pewter, but I don't have samples on hand to compare... but I would agree that it is definitely along the same lines, both are in in the is-it-grey-or-is-it-brown camp.

So, it looks great with adel white, which is a creamy white but still white- not cream. I would guess that you could find a cabinet color, in virtually any line, that could work well with both shitake and your gray-ish floor. And I think it'd be a great choice with a revere pewter wall.

I have sample of the Shiitake I ordered from Caesarstone - it definitely bridges the gap between tan and gray. I think it will look great with a crisp white cab or an ever so slightly creamy/white white (divinity/whote dove?) - but not cream - I like a bit of contrast.

I'm so happy to have come upon this link. I, too am seriously considering the Shitake for my kitchen counters. I love the softness; just wish it came in a honed finish. I'm trying to tie in a lot of Old Chicago antique brick that the kitchen opens up to. We have a large arch being made in the brick and openings to the dining and entry in the same brick. I'm wondering if doing the same brick in a backsplash would be too much? The old Chicago brick goes beautifully with the Shitake but wondering if it will be "too much brick" between kitchen and living areas? Then again, not sure I want to introduce another type stone into the room since I'm also doing a Calacutta gold top on my island. I'm leaning towards the BM Manchester Tan for kitchen cabinets and antique oak cabinet for island.

Black/dary grey vs white quartz countertop

I have both, Cambria Brittanicca on my perimeter cabs,and Cambria Ella on my island - both are white quartz. The smudges drive me nuts and they don't come off with a damp paper towel wipe. You really need to rub them out, or use one of their recommended cleaning products (I use Lysol disinfectant wipes) to get it all off. No idea how black compares.

Here is our kitchen (not finished yet but getting there along with the rest of the house. We have White Dove cabinets, White Dove ceilings and LG Rafini Quartz countertops with a workstation sink. Dolomite herringbone backsplash. This room used to be a bedroom with a sliding door in it. We wanted a Quartz that didn’t look like the white with grey or brown vein running through it. The Rafini is abit different and warm. We have just bought the engineered hardwood floor and will install it in a few weeks. We haven’t bought the chairs yet Not until we have the floor down, we had to change the floor because we couldn’t get the one we had designed around. This is almost impossible to answer without knowing what YOU'RE looking for -- light, dark, color, etc. There's literally 1000s of choices that are going to work well with your cabinet color. If you don't know what you're looking for, then just get out there and go looking to see what you like in order to narrow it down.

Thanks for the responses. This morning I held up my Blue Pearl sample to white painted wood and I was reminded why I really love Blue Pearl.

I just keep going back and forth. If I bought Ikea cabinets, I would get the quartz because it fits the modern style of their cabinets. But my cabinets are more old fashioned looking.

With Ikea, you pre-pay and I've read some horror stories about their fabricators as well as some very positive reviews. I don't think you get to see the quartz before it's cut. Since you pre-pay and Ikea isn't responsible for their sub-contractors, I'm not sure what you'd do if they made a mistake. In contrast, the local cabinet people we'd get the granite from has a final payment after the job is done and I think they would be more responsive if there was a mistake.

I just keep going back and forth and then back and forth again!

You should be able to find out who your IKEA subcontracts to before you buy... But yeah, you may have more control in a direct buy.
