Jim...I've been there. It's a turtle farm.

My backyard early this winter when we had only a little snow--but enough bad weather to have taken down this tree limb.

To me, a farm produces crops. I realize that they release turtles into their natural habitat, I didn't like their use of words so I changed it to sanctuary. I didn't mean to offend the turtles!

Jim.....lol Did you go to the botanic gardens? They had turtles there.....and they were in a safe haven... :0) Have you been to Little Caymen or Caymen Brac? Biggest iguanas I've ever seen....!!!!

Raven - those iris photos are beautiful! In our (icy) neck of the woods, irises don't show up until much later (sigh!). Do your plants bloom more than once a year?

Yes they do. Not all of mine are blooming right now though. Those are always the first to bloom. I got them from a wonderful lady from the gw forums. I had helped her with some computer problems and she so graciously asked if she could send me a care package of bulbs. I was thrilled and still am every time I see all of them bloom. So kind!

Those appear to be dwarf iris. They bloom much earlier that the others. Siberian iris should be the next to bloom out.

This one was in the rehab pool with only one other turtle at Coral World in St. Thomas. They were hand fed by an attendant.

Actually I think it is because I took the shots from almost straight down but these are full size tall iris. I am pretty sure she did not send me any that were labeled as dwarf. But I really don't know, I just love any and all of them.

I am struck by the similarity of the photo that Gazania posted and several i took this week. The birds enjoyed the berries on the holly and left lots of little berry packages on the newly fallen snow. I thought the birds were robins because they have a red breast, but now that I see Gazania's photo I am not so sure. What do you think mourning dove, robin, or other?

Happy, your look like robins to me. That they ate eating berries tells me that they are robins also. I have never seen doves eat the fruit or berries of any of my trees.
