Comments (4)In general a dark sofa in a room without context is not going to look great. You have to commit to a color and pull everything together to make it work. People think erroneously that if they choose a lighter, more neutral color they it will be easier, more forgiving to decorate around. I don't think so. Lighter, more neutral colors don't stand out as muhc, but they need just as much support from textiles, accessories and art to shine. Thoughtful color combinations are worth the effort. Google images of dark green sofas and see what people do to make it work. If it were me I would put down a kilim/flat weave rug in a pale background color with some green, any shade, in it and some red. Then I would look for richly patterned throw pillows in a light background with either green or red accents. I would keep an eye out for very colorful art. I like metal and glass coffee tables with a few nice books, and maybe a potted cyclamen. That's just me thinking out loud. Look at what talented designer do to give you an idea of how to start. I think a dark green sofa is woth the effort. Who needs more sme old, same old, half baked decorating ;-)...See Morelizzierobin
