Echium wildpretii. "Tower of jewels"

Anyone have experience with these? I planted seeds. The plants grew to about 3" tall. I moved them to a sunny location. (I'm in coastal So Cal). One group seemed OK. The other's leaves are turning orange. I can't decide if I watered them too much (worried they were getting burned in the sun) or if they are sunburned? They are full sun plants so I'm leaning towards the too much water hypothesis. I just put them in the ground. Their soil was pretty moist. Should I just leave them be? or water them? Maybe they will have transplant shock?
