Oh, I think the new ones so much better. Quite frankly, I think the sky's the limit on the chair you use for your computer. I would use a constracting color and possibly the same color wood, don't make it to matchy matchy, though. I personally don't like the old bankers chair with your stools. I think you need a more tradional type chair to go with your pretty kitchen. Something that screams "I got style". Look around, even on CL, you are in no hurry are you? You'll know it when you see it. .....Jane Note: I normally like old with new, but not in this case, but this is only my opinion. I could be wrong and often am, but not now. (lol)

We use felt and just replace them when needed. I've had the nail in ones, bad idea. After the felt gets flattened out the nail head 'may' protrude or work it's way out. You only need that to happen once and that scratch down thru the finish will be enough to dissuade one from using them, at least that's my experience. We used about a dozen nice folding chairs for X-mas last year. I assumed the plastic/rubber on the bottom of the feet would be sufficient, wrong! After everyone left and I was cleaning up my heart took a hit noticing all the scratches under and around the table (since put a rug in there). But the worse part was that my sister wore some boots w/stiletto heels (a lot of people, checking shoes wasn't a priority), under her chair was horrible and to top if off she put a magnum of wine on the soapstone counter and proceeded to slide it around the rest of the night (along w/others). It was our 1st gathering in the new house, we learned a lot, most importantly to 'let it go'. I love my sis and never mentioned any of it to her. It was the 2nd time she put something heavy and rough on the counter top, the other was a very large plant in a vase she brought over and set on the counter temporarily before sliding it off, I showed her that one the next time she was over, oy!

As a friend of mine says, I'm on their speed dial. I've gotten called a LOT of times. Several of those times it was when I was a student or SAHM so I never went even though I always wanted to. Then finally I got called when I could go and I went. And I got picked. And it was horrible. It was a case of child abuse involving the sexual abuse of three children by mom's bf with the knowledge, acceptance and partial participation by the mom. We had to hear the most excruciating testimony, some of which still haunts me, and this was something like 18 or 19 years ago. The next time I got called, about two years later, it was a case of a boyfriend holding a gun on his girlfriend. I guess it was just too soon after the last time but I did not want to hear any gory details about their relationship. So I spoke up and said that I could not convict someone based on "his word against hers" and they let me go. After that I served on a jury for a drug case where I learned all about street terminology and how to tell if a drug deal is about to go down. The case was fine but there was one woman on the jury who was an attention seeker and she made us spend an inordinate amount of time getting her to agree to the verdict and sentence. Ugh. The third case I served on was in municipal court. We handed down a verdict of guilty with maximum fine on a speeding ticket. We all wanted to throw the guy in jail or at least give him a bigger fine for wasting all of our time. The lawyer asked a lot of stupid questions. Repeatedly. And the place where the guy got caught is a notorious speed trap. What a pain! Oh well. If (when) they call me again, I'll go. And serve if picked. I just don't need to be privy to the horrors that go on in people's homes so please, no more cases like that!

Your place looks really rustic, reminds me of our old ski house. What do the legs on your table look like? I don't like your first chair option for your place. Depending on the table legs I think the last two chairs might be a good option. I like the turquoise stool in either that or a cream color. I like the idea of the dark stained legs because of the nice contrast they give to the pine in the house.
