Need a health boost
Comments (33)Violet, I had this same problem two years ago. I got the flu, and it went into my lungs and stayed there for two months. Even after that I was weak. Then, six months later, I got it again for two more months. Then, a year and three months passed, and sick again for two months. Same thing, coughing and coughing, completely wore me out. I have tried EVERYTHING known to modern medicine and natural healing, holistic, etc. A virus can feel like bronchitis, but not amount of antibiotics will cure it, so stay away from them like the plague. They are lifesavers for sure if you have something bacterial, but if you don't, they wreak havoc with your immune system!! A good diet for restoring your immune system includes lots of whole foods, yes soups, and lots of vegetables for the anti-oxidants. Juicing could be good, my SO swears by it but I just ate a lot of vegetable based soups. Limit carbs and sugars! I'm not an all-or-nothing person, but I had to really watch that as I am a carb-a-holic. Probiotics, the ones that you get in the refrigerator section, and 30B count. Forget yogurt and sauerkraut unless you make it yourself, what you get in the store is dead, despite what the label says. Lots of fluids. The only herb that helped me was olive leaf, it is a strong anti-oxidant. I tried them all. I took a codeine-based cough syrup at night in order to get some sleep. Nothing over the counter worked. I only took it at night, so did not get addicted. Then, just rest, rest and more rest. Exercise did not help. Yes, maybe walk and stretch/yoga just to keep your muscles in shape, but exercise helps prevent your getting this, but once you have it, you just have to let your body rest. One day it will leave. Until then, listen to your body. Go on sabbatical. Rest. GET HELP! My house went to heck in a handbasket. I had to pay someone to help me dig out. And so it goes. If sis is coming, maybe she can help. If she can't, and it is stressing you, either get some help ahead of time, or reschedule the visit. You are on time out!!!!! Rest and time, that is the only thing you can do. I wise doctor told me that, one who had been through the same thing herself. She said sometimes the body just goes into this mode due to having absorbed a lot of stress for a long time. She got it after med school and the birth of her first child. Sometimes the body needs to reset itself. On the plus side, I haven't been sick like that for over two years, so you can get over it!! We want instant fixes. Sometimes we just can't get them. But you can move through this eventually! Allow yourself the time to heal....See MoreBoring brick ranch needs a curb appeal boost
Comments (21)Yes. I've saved all the suggestion pictures. My husband and I are going to sit down and try to draw out what we are thinking for the landscaping (location, colors, etc). I'd like to lay it out so that it's ready for the addition of the walkway. We aren't going to be able to replace the front door at the moment. Is paint a terrible idea for a short-term upgrade? If paint is an option, what are your thoughts on paint color for the door? And the shutters....I'm not 100% sold on removing them (we are in south Ga so the shutters keep the southern feel). If we keep shutters, do you have a suggestion on color? I want the front of the house to really pop....See MoreNeed AC Boost on Second Floor
Comments (9)Air conditioning is based on science and physics properties. To avoid high cost, which is very common... people select window units / portable units etc. There is a long list of inconveniences with window units and portable units. Sizing: (not physical size, but cooling load size the unit can handle). If it's not sized properly the cooling it delivers (to a really hot area no less) won't be enough to cool it right. You have a problem now, the money you spend not spent right won't give you much in the way of a real solution. Noise: These low cost solutions are cheap and so you put up with more inconvenience in the way of noise. (This is a 'comfort' business, noise in my experience detracts from being truly comfortable.) Spot cooling: a window unit / portable unit are more or less spot devices. If you're trying to cool large areas there will most likely be uneven temperatures more so than a *properly designed and installed* ducted forced air system. If you spend the money on a mini split AC you will still have the spot cooling issue. Realize if you go this route the unit needs to be sized properly. What further aggravates this issue of mini splits is the need for more equipment because of large indoor areas that you want cooled. If the space is a small single room, the mini split *may* be a viable option. Climate concerns: For humidity prone regions it is not advisable to over size HVAC equipment. So be sure to address your humidity concerns with the property in question, otherwise you may discover mold growth in closets and other areas due to high humidity. Mold growth: 'Damp, dark, cool' is what is needed for mold ---the nutrients are already provided by the living space. I service the Katy, Texas area....See MoreKitchen sink needs a hot water boost.
Comments (12)Recirculation pumps work great. I can absolutely recommend them. It made such a huge difference for our house. But these pumps should be combined with the rest of the required infrastructure: pipe diameters should be sufficient to provide the required flow rate, but not more than that. Excessively big pipes can cause really long delays before you get hot water at your faucet. That was probably the biggest issue in our house. Easily had to wait for more than minute for warm water to get anywhere close to our bathroom, despite the fact that it was located right above the garage, where the water heater was. There was a lot of water trapped in those pipes. pipes should be insulated and should avoid exterior walls. You want hot water; you don't want a radiant heating system for your walls. things work much better if you have a dedicated return pipe for your recirculation system, as opposed to piggy-backing off of the cold water line. If you have more than one return pipe, make sure you balance the loads properly. the backflow valves in recirculation pumps are often inadequate. Install a separate backflow valve, or discover that your fancy new recirculation system keeps giving you cold water after all. Ask me how I know. recirculation pumps are frequently incompatible with tankless water heaters. Check your manufacturer's instructions, if you have a tankless unit. you should install a small expansion tank whenever you install a recirculation pump; it prevents possible damage to your pipes. consider a whole-house sediment filter. It'll make sure your pump lives longer....See MoreSimpleDecoratingTips.com
