Lighting Heights in Open Plan Living/Dining?

I posted this in Lighting as well.
We are fully renovating a long urban townhouse (21 by 60) It will be an open floor plan with ceiling height of almost 10 feet. Modern design.
From front to back of the house, it will be living area, dining area (100 inch table) and kitchen. The kitchen will be recessed lights only but I can't figure out lighting for the living/dining.
I know traditional dining table lighting is lower but I've never been a fan-feels claustrophobic to me.
Would it look ok if I chose one pendant and used it over both the dining and living, at the same height like a Nelson bubble pendant? Or should I go with different heights and lights? Thanks so much!
