We have a frameless shower enclosure for a neo-angle shower and I personally wouldn't recommend doing it. The new thin-line European-style framed enclosures are almost as good-looking, half the price, and won't leak. I disagree that your existing tile is 'classic'. I think it's low-end builder grade, and very tired looking. You need to be absolutely sure your tile guy is correct in thinking he can tile over the existing floor. Has he done a deflection test? If not, get thee over to the John Bridge forum where you can find out how to do one. Here's a suggestion you may not have thought of. Call a local bath reglazing vendor with good references, and price out what it would cost to have your wall tile repainted. I'd do them a beautiful, glossy, crisp white, then paint the walls a nice rich medium-dark brown or slate gray. It's usually inexpensive, and will make it a breeze to keep clean because the grout will be forever sealed. Keep the ceiling white (this keeps it from feeling like a cave) and if there isn't any crown molding, get some. A small bath like this needs some nice style touches to give it a more luxurious feel. I agree with replacing the toilet with a glossy white one. But I'd use one of those half-depth vanity cabs with the sink top, for storage and space-saving. CP-- Our engineered hardwood was installed in 2007, so products may have improved. It was also installed floating, so that may have contributed to problems. After 7 years with it, there was raised wood grain around the dog's water dish, the fridge water dispenser and the dishwasher/sink even though I learned to just keep a cloth handy to quickly wipe up drips. Even though we're shoe-free we still ended up with scratches because of our dog, kids playing and probably my husband and I dropping stuff. I also think it would be nice to just steam mop tile floors since you can't steam mop engineered. That house went into contract in a few hours and closed in three weeks, so the floor probably wasn't an obvious problem to the woman who bought it. Thank goodness:-) I might be picky. If joint fatigue and pain is a possibility at all, I would avoid tile. That's a good tip.

This is not a suggestion I'd give someone in my area, or anywhere in the north. But you're in N'awlins for goodness sake! So I beefed up the front door height to meet the windows with one of any of a thousand old carved pediments you can find inexpensively on ebay -- gild or color up if you wish and weatherproof with a marine varnish. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=antique+carved+wood+pediment&rt=nc Search ebay with your measurements handy and you might score some carved panels to take the place of shutters. Only in New Orleans! I went what would be considered insane with color here in New England. And while I hung bright lanterns (with candles on timers) from your stately old tree, I restrained myself from draping it in mardigras beads, LOL. I don't think it matters that the windows don't match, as your porch is to one side. You already have the quintessential iron railings. Just add a touch of landscaping and have fun with this one! I, like you, currently like the look of grey cabinets but like white as well and I think that long-term I'll be glad that I chose white since grey will probably go out of style (or apparently from what I've learned reading this thread it already has). On the other hand, since you're using IKEA cabinets you could just change the doors out in 5 or 10 years if you get the gray & get tired of it. The floors on the other hand are a lot more work to change. I love the color that you picked but with a large family you will probably have a lot of dirt & a dark floor will show it all. In my last house we refinished the hardwood floors and used a beautiful dark stain. With 4 kids & a dog I regretted that dark stain within a few weeks. The natural oak never showed dirt like the dark stain did.
