My counter top was just installed! I love it!! Wilsonart Laminate Italian White Di Pesco with a crescent edge, no backsplash.

My sink isn't installed yet! That's next!!
(Sorry I don't know how to post more than one picture. LOL)

Joseph Corlett, the existing edge profile is eased. Is it more difficult to seam to finished edges? Will there be cutting/grinding required in the house? I imagined that they would get the two pieces cut to size and attach them, maybe with some supports underneath. Is it more complicated than that? Should I just get a new countertop instead of considering this patch job? damiarain, thank you for all the links of the drawer units under induction cooktop. I am aware that there are clearance concerns for the top drawer. However, all photos there also show new countertops under the cooktops, which brings me back to the original question of how required a new countertop is for a cooktop install. This discussion is telling me that this new cooktop installation is more complicated that I originally imagined. I thought replacing 30" range with 30" cooktop would pretty standard. I need to consider leaving the range in place until I get enough money to get a new cooktop, drawer units AND a countertop.

Would help to know what material the new counters will be. Eased edges are not highly recommended for certain materials, although I do have them on a not recommended material. And FYI,, it's not just the edges but the corners inside and out to be concerned with. You might try asking this on the kitchen forum - this commonly comes up there and you'll get the good the bad and the ugly on various choices

Whilst I do agree with the above statement, though does not address why it is there. From the photo it looks to be from a 4" diamond polishing pad. Usually if this happens it is from a poor polishing technique and they run up onto the surface with the edge polishing pads. But this is not the case there. I would say they have chipped the edge or there was a mark in the surface. In any light something has been repaired in that spot. It has like sanding in a spot and why it is dull. It can be repaired but be aware of the difference in the compounds available around and methods of repairing be advised by those who are stone restoration qualified stone masons. And those who are just general contractors, even if they have some stone knowledge and experience. The statement about Quartz Renew, but it is only ever a blend of the polished surface. All the stone restoration guys that we know have the same issue with the Quartz Renew. It is only ever 90% of the reflectivity achieved, this means that the stone finish or polish in never the same as the factory finish. We are able to return the surface to the original factory finish for all Quartz brands, color and finishes. Including the highly polished pure white and marble look range. We are master stonemason not just a general contractor and have restored some of the most prestigious projects around the world. So we do know what we are talking about. Also we are one of a hand full of companies able to restore quartz stone or engineered stone back to the original factory finish. Just to give you some quantification to our advise. Whilst Quartz Renew is an ok solution, but it is far from perfect. It will only restore the stone to about 10% within the original shine or polish if you measure it with a gloss meter. It will NOT restore the high polished shine on marble look or fine grain quartz stone. As these are finished at about twice the gloss level. Yes measuring via a gloss meter is the same as viewing the surface from various angles to see the polish. If you do this ona Quartz Renew repaired surface you WILL SEE the slight haze where it has been used. Though it is better than leaving the surface as it was. The best option is Diamond Quartz Polish in the DIY-Trade kit. It returns the shine and gloss to any Quartz of any brand, colour and finish. It is a permanent solution as it nano activates the components the quartz is made of to achieve the polish and shine. The same as the factory finish. There is no hazing or shadow around the repair like quartz renew. It is best to AVOID using any of the following - the current big item causing etching damage is BLEACH or anything containing bleach. It is known to etch stone. Below are some links for similar etching cause by a wide range of etching chemical such as; Which will damage the stone and most likely have cause the issue to start with. 1) Windex - Window Cleaners 2) Bleach or bleach containing products 3) Oven cleaner 4) Drain Cleaner 5) Gumption 6) Magic Erasers 7) Jiff 8) Bar keepers friend 9) or any other abrasive or corrosive cleaners For example you can enter any product into google followed by MSDS to bring us the Material Safety Data Sheet. Where in section 3 all hazardous chemicals must be list by law. Along with the pH of the product in section 9. The optimum pH range for any surface and not to be caustic or acidic is pH6-8. This way no surface can be damaged from any cleaning product. Example of a google product search; - “Ajax Spray & Wipe MSDS” _____________

thanks! I really like it! We are trying to put the sink in right now. I have a little more painting to do, and when I am done with that, we are going to tear out the floor and put down vinyl plank. And I have ordered my last 4 doors for the sink side lower cabinets from Barker last week. I am currently painting the pantry door and will probably paint the other interior door, but plan to replace those probably after the holidays.

It doesn't compare to most kitchens here that I drool over, but it is a major improvement!!

Oh, and a backsplash, which I'm still searching for. LOL And we need a new window.

I'm so happy to see photos of installed laminate...just wish we could see more! (I've been trying to decide on a laminate for two years to go with my clear finished oak cabs and am getting really tired of hollow core doors and plywood counters.) Seems that I'm a master of indecision, ugh.

`ci_lantro, if misery loves company, count me in. I have one counter covered in cardboard and particleboard and the others are still sitting there, worn and tired, and I still haven't made a choice. I do know that I'm going with a laminate much like yours. I've brought home several chips that I thought would work only to have them look b.l.a.h. next to cabinets.

After all the sturm and drang I've read here about seams, cracks, differences in color, and on and on and on, I doubt I'd ever invest in natural stone. I won't say never, but if I ever do, I will be present at every step. I love your choice!

We chose laminate for our redo and have no regrets. Much as I love the look of stone, I wanted a low maintenence, tough counter and the laminate fulfills that need. Your laminate looks so pretty with those dark cabinets. There are so many colors in laminate today that it is hard to choose one. The light counters and dark cabinets are a beautiful combination.

Our new Kraus sink and Delta faucet are now operational!!

I would LOVE soapstone counters. But not in this house or this kitchen. Even if I completely gutted my kitchen, the value of my house would not justify the soapstone.

Also, I am not in favor of anything that I have to worry about sealing and the like.

I had the counters made at a local guy who specializes in laminate counters. With the installation, it was 1,028.00. That was with the crescent edge, which I love. It was the only estimate I got though. I tried a couple of other places but never heard back from them. I didn't want a seam in the corner, so I didn't want to go to HD or Lowes. I am very happy with them!! They fit my walls perfectly, because he did the sink cutout and the scribing yesterday during installation! I was worried about that with not having a backsplash!

Nice job caseykees. Did you pay extra for the no seams? Did a box store do the install or a private cont? We are looking at hd or lowes I picked the Wilsonart spring carnival or Formica Crema Mascarello with white shaker cabinets. We will go with whomever give us a better deal.

I was gonna ask how it'd look w/ bisque appliances...then I remembered that my cabinets are much the same color. That be too much in one space. It'd all fade into one creamy/beige cloud!

It was a private contractor that made and installed them. They specialize in laminate counters. I am not sure of the total square (or linear?) footage but the tops were roughly $500, and $200 for the crescent edge, and $400 for installation. it took about 4 weeks for them to make them. For anyone in Rochester, NY looking for laminate I would definitely recommend them. They are Countertop Creations, on Maple St. I will admit though that I'm not sure how the prices are compared to anywhere else because I didn't get any other estimates. I was going to get one from HD, but I had trouble with them on a floor install a few years ago that kind of soured me on them. But they are putting in a new kitchen window for me in a couple of weeks.

I love my counters! They do have a little more brown in them that I would have liked now that they are in, but I can live with it and still think it looks nice with my BM Wrought Iron lower cabs!

im thinking about doing the italian white di pesco. Could you please post more pics!!! im so worried i wont like it against my espresso cabinets. i worry that my counters will look so white.
