Comments (6)Your GKs look adorable in your special sewn costumes! Love the "Cars" stockings...and I also saw that material of license plates...now I'm going to have to go back & buy it at JoAnn's with a %off coupon...that is so cool how you appliqued each plate letter! Great ideas! And what a special Snow White stocking...adorable, adorable! You did great, lindasewandsew...way to recycle! I am so impressed with your ideas and talent! Jeanne S. p.s. I spent yesterday printing on cardstock coloring books for my GK's (the littlest ones...from 12 yrs. down to 18 mos)...I picked out 12 photos from the past yr. and made 8x10 coloring book sheets...like a soccer shot, or basketball huddle, camping fun, rolling over for the first time, etc. etc. It was so fun...then put a colored pic on front of Gdma & Gdpa in front of the tree & wrote "Dane's Coloring Book" above the pic and "It was a very good year!" below the pic. I had so much fun making these & will have them bond with that curly plastic stuff at the copy shop. What fun! Merry Christmas to you and yours, linda!...See MoreHanging your Christmas stockings
Comments (12)I knew you guys would come through with ideas! Christmas traditions are so hard to change because there's so much history and personal sentiment. I'm really liking the idea of the stockings showing up somewhere in the house when Santa comes. Would have never thought of that on my own because it was not done that way when I was a kid. I can definitely see it working that way in the future. Stockings are up now. DD is 5 yrs old, and if I took the stockings down now & go with the idea, there would be lots of explaining to do. Welcoming more ideas. These are great. Gayle...See MoreDo You Hang Christmas Stockings?
Comments (16)Gary and Emi's mother gave her a new stocking every year, and we put all of them out one place or another. Last year, we all got new stockings, musical ones! We hung those from the fireplace mantle. When my 'original' kids were growing up (I don't want to say my 'own' kids because Emi is my 'own' too, even though I didn't give birth to her) , anyway, when my first two were growing up, each member of the family had a stocking and we used it every year. Santa had always filled the kids stockings and left them under the tree, and as soon as the kids caught on, Santa started leaving stockings under the tree for Mom and Dad too. It always pleased and astonished me how generous my kids were. Mom and Dad always got Easter baskets too, once the kids were old enough to buy candy and fill them :-)...See MoreNeed ideas on how to renovate a stone fireplace built
Comments (10)I know what will fix a lifeless fireplace...hang a wreath of dead stuff on it. Ummm... Leave it alone, and certainly don't lime wash it, not with the use it clearly gets. That smoke stain will show up even more. Besides, that stone is laid beautifully and makes a major statement. The mason took a lot of care laying that stone, and $20 worth of lime wash would desecrate it. This ain't a McMansion. The home needs to be respected for what it is, and it's clearly significant. Mr_pither has the right idea. But I'd flip that print over so that smada lesna's name could be read better. ;-) Actually, I don't think I'd hang a print or painting there because of the soot. But a sculptural piece would be nice. Do NOT buy anything from a décor store--that cheap sweatshop "wall art" junk has no place there. Look around for a local artist....See Moresas95
