Our local NBC news anchor does "as seen on TV" products on an almost weekly basis, demonstrating them and giving them "thumbs up" or thumbs down". He actually gave it a thumbs up for basic utility but cautions about the shipping cost. It's probably fine for smaller jobs like bulbs or 3-4" containers. David, I saw the "upgraded cordless model" and it probably is a cordless one, just a very low end model with a battery that would probably die within a year and cheap guts. You can find similiar generic ones all over eBay for a song.

We did this a year ago, before Apple updated their Apple t.v., so we used an Airport Express, but it's the same process (we now have added apple t.v.'s to 2 other rooms, and they work essentially the same way except that we don't need Airfoil to run them)-- here's dh's description from a previous pos after we finished a year ago -- if you have more questions contact me via e-mail and I'll put you in touch with him. Kris found some Cambridge Soundworks Ambience 80 speakers, which install in the ceiling. We ordered four of them (2 in the kitchen and 2 in the living room) and got permission from our contractor to run some speaker wire while the ceiling was torn off, and I ran wiring from where we wanted to speakers installed over to the location of our pantry, where we planned to install the sound equipment. We also had the electrician install an electrical outlet inside the cabinet. After the kitchen was finished, we cut holes in the ceiling to install and wire up the speakers. Inside the pantry, we ran the other end of the speaker wires into an electrical box with speaker terminals. For sound equipment, we got an Airport Express, which has a mode that allows it to stream music from iTunes. The hardest part was finding an amplifier that would fit inside the pantry and not generate too much heat. We ended up buying two small PylePCA3 amplitiers - one each for the kitchen and living room speakers. We put these in the pantry, along with the Airport Express and connected the audio out jack on the airport into the amplifiers (we had to use an RCA jack splitter to connect to both amps). We keep the amplifiers on, and can stream music from our laptops anywhere in the house. We also use a third party software program called Airfoil (for Macs only) that allows us to stream music from *any* application, not just iTunes.

It shouldn't require a law, common courtesy ought to be enough for these companies. I've about jumped out of my skin a few times when a commercial came on really loud, with some startling music or screeching or something. I agree there are more pressing matters, but it should only take a president a couple of minutes to sign a bill unless it turns into a photo op. Congress wastes a lot of time as it is, but at least this bill will affect ALL of us, not just a certain special interest group. And ever since I can remember, WAY before there were remote controls, my dad made a kill switch that was attached to a chunk of 2 x 4 and ran with a wire to the TV that would kill the sound, so we would all sit around and yell "hit it, hit it!" to whomever had the switch as soon as a commercial came on. Tacky looking, yes, but we stopped listening to commercials a long time ago. Kind of a redneck remote control, before its time. lol I think he made one for every TV in the house. Now I sometimes turn the volume back ON to hear a particularly interesting looking commercial. :)

My house is being built from grounds up, and currently all the wires and plumbing work is being done. There are no dry walls and I plan on only putting them up after all my wires are in. Let me be more specific to what I am doing and what products I am going with. TVs / Equipment / Setup There would be 3 TVs in my house I had no idea that I can share my Apple TV, cable, etc through an AV Receiver to multiple TVs, so thank you so much for that. I plan on using Yamaha Aventage (RX-A860) which has quite a few HDMI ports (see the back image here) I plan on using Fiber Optic HDMI cable (50 ft) ( this one from Celerity) to ensure that I have reliable long distance connection. I plan on using Harmony Elite for remote usage with their IR mini blaster. I am putting in Cat 6a cables behind every TV and sockets all over the house to ensure I have as many direct cable connections to my smart home equipments. I am hoping to put all my equipments (Apple TV, AV Receiver, Cable etc.) in a cabinet in basement and bring HDMI/Cat 6a wires from all over the house to these cabinets. Questions Bless you for this suggestion, but you're saying that I can share my sources (Apple Tv, etc) with all my 3 TVs? That'd be amazing. So with my AV Receiver I can do it? I think RX-A860 has two zones, should I return it and get a one with three zones? Would AV Receiver be a better option than an HDMI switch / splitter? I am putting in ceiling speakers throughout my house and Im using Sonos Connect:Amp for multiple zones to control them. Would that be good option? What I am hoping to do is future proof my house and have all the cables installed in before any dry wall finalization so that all wires stay hidden. At the end, Each TV would have 2 HDMI (one for AV Receiver in the basement cabinet and one for just in case.) 2 Cat6a (One goes to Chromecast Ultra and one just in case).
