They are certainly spider like and a wonderful talking point.

Thanks for the comments. It's good to see at least one coming out in flowers. They grow as a single stem (monopodial). If you cut the top off the stem, the top bit will become a new plant and the original will re-sprout. But there's never 2 stems on the one plant. So that's how I've been multiplying them, just wish I had a sure method of getting them to flower regularly/frequently.

The leaves on the bottom left are Fishtail Palm, Caryota mitis. They like it a bit shady.but in full sun start to look a bit burned and tatty. They are a weed though (an 8 metre tall weed), birds carry the seeds all over the place

Funny thing about weeds, in New Zealand we saw calla lilies growing in ditches and are called weeds, we pay an enormous price for one bloom.
