I have painted walls/ceilings in the winter... see no reason why you can't paint furniture too.

Wow. What a challenge. That is why we always prep and paint any exterior trim before we deliver it to our window jobsites. The wood must be dry before painting. No exceptions. If not, the moisture will push the paint film off before spring arrives. Please don't attempt to paint damp lumber. Yes, there are 35 degree paints but, even those have limitations. Super Paint by SW and Duration are two that qualify. Read the label and abide by it or the paint will fail. Tip: Duration is self priming. If you can get one coat on now, and one in the spring, that may be sufficient to prevent problems over the winter. If left uncovered, and it gets wet, the pine will probably expand with the moisture, and split open during the winter months. It may also warp badly enough that it will need replaced in spring. Hi Michael! (Thought you'd "semi-retired" from the forum!) I'll have to respectfully disagree, to a degree, with the statement of primer protecting for 5 months. Per the link below... Sure, the primer will protect the wood...briefly...but after a winters'-worth of cold, ice, dirt, & grit, it's gonna be too dried-out to recover much "grip". Even if sanded... Plus...the difficulties of resanding, cleaning when they're on the house. Just MY thoughts anyway...;-) Faron Here is a link that might be useful: PQI info on priming...

You are so right. I love reading - in the summer with a glass of ice tea and the winter I love International Coffee French Vanilla or Capuccino. I have saved a lot of painting magazines over the years but finally decided to go through them and tear out what I knew I would be interested in and toss the rest. That was so hard to do. I still cannot part with my Decorative Artist yet, have 20 year supply. Part of my "Library" is in the bathroom. I could never go there without reading material LOL, it seems my children and grand children do the same thing. My husband says it takes me longer to pee than anyone he knows. This weather has made it a good time for me to organize so that is what I am doing today. I have so much material that I need to go through - I love material and furs- always looking for special stuff for the Santas I make. I will have to post a picture of the next Santa I make. I feel so bad for those who are dealing with the ice and snow. To be without electricity is awful, went through that after Hurricane Ivan, 95% of our county was without power. We had none for several weeks but I wised up and bought a generator. Little did I know that you can't get gas if there is no power because the pumps won't work. So now I stock up on that to. It was an awful time and the weather was extremely hot. But I can always cool off with a shower or jumping in the pool, for some reason I can never get warm enough if there isn't enough heat. Your husbands sound like mine. He is always looking out for me, even coming to my work to fill up my gas tank because I hate to pump it. I always tell him I have to die first because I don't know what I would do if he wasn't around. I am going to get a taste of it next week, he is going to the Orient to play golf for several weeks, I will be off to the children's house to sleep - you know I am too scared to stay by myself at night - just a big wuss!!
