Can anyone recommend a good toilet seat?

This bathroom remodel of mine is getting really absurd. They installed the Kohler Stately toilet which I really like but the coordinating toilet seat won't stay up for the men in the house!! This shouldn't be so hard for the Kohler engineers! Anyway, I need a good sturdy toilet seat for a round front toilet that has no issues. Any ideas? Thanks

I've installed 100s of Bemis brand without problems. And believe it or not some tanks sit foward enough to prevent lid staying up. If that's the case consider a commercial seat because it is only a seat but no lid. Commercial seats are also open at front which helps if seat isn't raised. You can also remove the lid from several residential seats.
I'll bet some female desighned it that way so the seat is always down when she arrives.LOL

I had the same problem with a new Kohler that replaced a 15 year old Bemis. I couldn't find Bemis at the big box stores, but after checking their website saw that Church and Mayfair are Bemis. Got the soft close Church at Lowe's and really like it.

I have had good luck with K&H Manufacturing, model 9000. I use it in a 26" diameter, 3" deep in middle, bird bath. It is only 50watts but will usually keep the bath from freezing solid almost down to 0' F. At the colder temps thin ice forms but is easily broken up and the effect can be "boosted" by occasionally adding warm water.

We went with Roy Schlabach after interviewing about 20 different builders and am damn glad we did. He builds in all price ranges, from $100,000 to over a million. We got amazing Amish quality, high end finishes, great design advice, and with all this, he came in UNDER budget and ahead of schedule. I can't recommend him more highly. What he says he'll deliver, he delivers. He and his site foreman have stayed in touch with us and every now and then, we get a call asking if everything is still good and if we're still happy with everything. Amish builders are not cheap, but they are worth every dime in the long run. We have a very long driveway on 8 acres in the country and our mailbox is at the road. Our house sits on a little rise above a big lawn and a meadow area that we keep "wild" for the wildflowers and as a natural area for wildlife. When I walk down to get the mail, I've had people pull up and tell me our house is stunning and ask who built it. It's far from a million dollar house, but I feel like we have million dollar house quality. If I was building again, Roy Schlabach is the only builder I would call.

It does not have to be a Wolf hood and blower just because the range is made by Wolf. Capture and containment performance, hood aesthetics, and system cost should be the primary considerations in hood and blower selection. Alternatively, Wolf hoods are supplied with stick-on emblems, so one could use a Wolf hood and keep it incognito if desired. Wolf hoods may prove optimal in some cases when the range or cooktop is not made by Wolf. However, if the hood is made by Wolf, using a Wolf blower (likely made by Broan/NuTone) chosen from the table at the back of the Wolf Design Guide will avoid any worries about compatibility. The selection of which hood to use (or more generally what the hood performance parameters should be) can be informed by the many advice comments on this forum provided by myself and many others, taking into account the specific limitations of the kitchen layout and cook's needs, and of the necessary trades among performance, aesthetics, and cost. One should not be surprised to find that the research needed to wisely choose the kitchen ventilation components exceeds that needed to select the range it is to be used with. For the higher CFM performance region, the ventilation system installed cost may exceed the cost of the range as well, including the required make-up air supply components. kas

Can anyone recommend a good book on growing conifers?

They are all in pots. I am selecting for the hardiest individuals from among hundreds of total plants grown from seed. And, honestly, I would feel guilty bothering people with every one of the problems I am experiencing... I ordered a book overnight:Growing conifer seedlings, transplants, and trees in an outdoor nursery by Donald B. Hilliker. That said, the long version of the problems are as follows. Abies koreana, Pinus cembra, Pinus longaeva, Pinus nigra 'Austriaca', and Pinus sibirica all came through the winter (along with others, but they're fine). Pinus longaeva came through quite strong. Abies koreana, Pinus cembra, and Pinus sibirica, came through okay. Two weeks after the last snow storm it got extremely hot. We had 90degF temps for three days. I don't think I watered enough at that time. Since then I have been moving them into different light on different parts of the property. I believe that I have been successful finding good light and watering levels for Pinus cembra and sibirica, and Pinus nigra 'Austriaca'. Almost all of my Abies koreana and Pinus longaeva continue to do very poorly. The pinus longaeva picked up when I moved them into more sun, but I believe that when I moved them again (I was going to set up a new space just for them) I really upset them. The half dozen Abies Koreana that survived are doing very poorly. While I know that I can find a lot of the information that I'm looking for doing research online that can be extremely time consuming and I am working with dozens of different plants (from self-seeding annuals to Pinus longaeva). So I am looking for a comprehensive resource on conifers--like a textbook--that can give me a broad base of knowledge from which I can draw because I haven't got all the time in the world :)

I got a soft close ez clean model on Amazon. I wouldn't buy another seat without those features now! To clean, just turn the bolt covers and lift the whole thing off, wipe around the posts it attaches to, then set in place and turn covers back. Easy peasy!

I bought one of the "no slam" lids called Mayfair Easy Clean at Walmart, $30 something. You just push it down a little and it closes gently by it's self. I don't flush with the lid up so I push it down all the way. It is easy to install, just tighten until the nut breaks off. You can twist the whole thing and it comes off for easy cleaning. I like it so well I bought another one for the handicap stool (elongated). So far it has not loosened like most lids do.

Thank you everyone for the recommendations. The main problem with this present seat is that the seat wont stay up when needed. I'm starting to think maybe it's because of the shape of the tank top because it sticks out in the front.

Sorry I did not read it thoroughly. If mine doesn't stay up it is because the lid cover is to thick, but I am sure you have thought about that.

The only draw back to those soft close lids is when you go to someone else's house and forget that not everyone has a soft close lid!! I seriously embarrassed myself when the lid SLAMMED down really loudly. grrrr. But we installed them in both baths and I too like the easy off to clean feature.

Errant--You gave me a little spark of hope but alas I checked and the other side of the tank lid is unfinished.

I've searched the Kohler Stately toilet and haven't found anyone else having this issue but the seat I have is said to have a design flaw by many reviewers.

The best seat I ever bought is the Tuscany Premium from Menards that is in our other bathroom. I may get another and try it on this toilet. It is a very heavy and substantial seat but doesn't have a soft close feature (and has the loudest slam of any seat I've ever heard!)
