Does anyone have any information about the MAAX line of air tubs--Topaz or Optik? This is for a new construction.

it's the same measurement across all along the bottom - it doesn't get narrower except up higher where the arm rests are, and a bit at each end where the corners are. the narrower part by the fingertips of the arm rests is the same width as the bottom of the tub. the maax site has "technical drawings" for each size that tell you the bottom measurement. on mine it says is ~22.5" across all along the bottom inside. it's hard to measure exactly because the bottom edges aren't sharp, but i'd guess that's about right. i don't think that, as you seem worried about, you'd have a problem with the middle part of the bottom of the tub being tighter. if anything, i think the far ends of the bottom are smaller, but i think you'd really only notice that difference if you scooted *way* back & sat up straight or bent forward. hth Here is a link that might be useful: mine is usa 66x36

First of all the free standing tubs are more expensive than the the other tubs. Second , Bain ultra is an expensive brand and they sell their tubs through showrooms only . I tried to find any online , but no luck . Luckily I found a discounted demo in a showroom . You can check other brands that are sold online like Jason or Maxx . Qualitybath. Com is an authorized dealer for a lot of them , and they have good prices. Do you homework and look online and compare prices . Good luck.

We are installing a Jacuzzi brand tub as I write this. A friend suggested it and my family went for it (I'm not convinced). Here are some thoughts I've had: 1. A whirlpool tub is always made of plastic and will scratch, eventually, some day. Cleaning plastic is an art form. Apparently liquid bleach takes out a surprising amount of the grime that gets stuck on it. We'll see. 2. Jacuzzi says that "all" other brands do not drain all the water out of the pipes when you drain the tub, and that causes problems with sanitation. Still Jacuzzi sells a cleaner kit to clean out their pipes. Hmmmm? 3. The pump and heater take up plenty of space in the tub footprint leaving a much smaller-than-you-might-think place for your body and/or feet (if showering) to go. With the space reduced, you might need a bigger tub than you have room for to be comfortable in it.
