Itecato9, it sound like you bough regular moss, since you describe it as green and the package said to be used only as a basket liner or top dressing. That is not LFS moss or more accurately long-fiber Sphagnum Moss use in growing mediums. That green decorative moss is green because of the artificial green coloring they add to it, long-fiber Sphagnum Moss normally a light brownish color with some purple hues. People new in CP have made the big mistake of buying green decorative moss, either because they donÂt know how real sphagnum moss looks like or the sales clerk assures them it is sphagnum moss. ThatÂs why those forums you mentioned warn to stay away from that green decorative moss Sphagnum moss is long and stringy and quite ÂfeatheryÂ, not green, compact, and short. Lowes or Home Depo do sell sphagnum moss in the orchid section but make sure it does say sphagnum moss and nothing else. Also, make sure it doesnÂt have any additives on the sphagnum moss like watering agent or fertilizer, which will kill your CPs. You want is pure LFS moss. DonÂt use that green decorative moss AT ALL as top dressing, the chemicals in it will kill your CP as it will leach from it and contaminate your medium when you water it. If not sure what moss to buy, you can always purchase them from reputable carnivorous plant growers like California Carnivore, or Sarracenia Northwest. That way you will be sure what you purchased and also learn how real LFS moss looks like. For your D. kenneally , this grow in moist warm environment, if you planted it next to your temperate sundews, you may have killed it. Only pygmies produce gemmea, you probably mean the scaly leaf of the dormant sundew bulb. Good luck!

Wow, that is pretty pathetic looking. Have no idea what's wrong BUT, if it were mine.......... I would dig it up and put it back in a pot with nice rich potting soil. Check to see if the root ball was rootbound before it went in the ground and loosen up the root ball. Then I would trim it up to only a couple of branches with leaves to encourage new growth. Once it renewed itself, then put it in the ground in another location. Any idea how acidic your soil actually is? - they like acid. The other thing is, have you checked it for pests? If you don't mind pesticides, I would use some Bayer Advanced Tree and Shrub on it.

So it was winter that was a little harsh that may have stunted it? I had been cutting it back every year but wasnt sure if I should have it cut it back as it had buds on it, so I left it. That is for blooms the following year??? It filled in nice n tall with beautiful leaves and just a few buds before, that bloomed. Thank you much Ian!

Mango K - Manila is the ONLY mango Lowes/HD offers at their stores here in So Cal, so there's no chance for a mislabeling unless it happened at LaVerne's before it was shipped, cuz you can special order other varietals from them (but through Lowes), which I did (I think a Glenn and something else) but they were just crappy sticks so I got my money back.....but yeah anything's possible - I suppose I could look at the other varieties LaVerne offers (like 7-8 others) and go to the PIN viewer and see maybe if one of those mangos comes up looking close to mine.....hmmmm..... Oh...and thanks Harry for the steady faith in the Edwards Mango, which I just spent $160 on to get a big tree and plant.
