Flora, you just may be right. I'd considered that it might be a mango, though I haven't seen any mango seedlings in pictures quite like it, but there's this one with the seed coat still at the base. I recall seeing some brown "hair," which I took for kiwi fuzz (and I know this isn't a kiwi vine), in the clump of fruit peels the seed was buried in, but now I wonder if it was mango fiber.

The photos are what help me the most . gardening - The pumpkin leaf problem is most likely a fungus - very common in the curcurbit family especially this time of year. " Some tips on disease prevention : Purchase new western-grown seeds. Plant as early as possible to avoid large aphid populations (spray if necessary). Treat for nematodes, if needed. Control powdery mildew. Do not follow cucurbit crops (i.e., cucumber, cantaloupe, watermelon, and etc) with another cucurbit. Destroy litter from previous crop and deep bury. Do not over- or under- water plants and give adequate but not excessive fertilizer. Examine plants frequently for appearance of plant disease symptoms and treat as quickly as possible. I did look at the Elatior pics, and some do look similar..sometimes there is such a huge difference in the pictures of one plant, I am not sure, As to the color, it has been pretty consistent to what it is now. It hasn't seemed to change much, I planted it in August last year I believe..so I don't have a very long time frame to compare it to. Some of the Blue Umbrella pics also remind me of the plant...I did see that BU has 36 inch scapes, and violet flowers, which seems accurate..I am a little color blind so some times I see tinting different, especially pink, and red. After reading the info on Elatior, WOW.. thats practically Empress Wu big! When I bought this one I suspected a giant because the leaves on it were as big as almost anything I have ever seen first hand.
