How to propagate Evans cherry from cuttings

canadianplant

I have some 3 year old Evan cherry plugs that are about 2 feet tall. I have not done any pruning yet. One of them seems to have 2 leaders with 1-3 years of growth, and is almost the same height as the main leader. I of course have to prune this to encourage proper growth in the future and am wondering how well Evans grows from cuttings. The U of Sask seems to suggest they can be grown "relatively easily from cuttings". All I know right now is that I should try to strike them while dormant, but dont know how old the wood needs to be for my best chances. It is maybe a foot tall, and was thinking of just planting the while thing half way. I would just much rather try to propagate some of my prunings instead of just tossing them in the compost or fire.
