Keep me from doing this horrible thing!

I am being sorely tempted.

Inspired by the Christmas present thread, I went to the library to check out the Illuminated Rumi. I found it...and right next to it, I found the Rubiyat of Omar Khayyam. It is an old copy, published in 1952. It has an embossed cloth cover with a beautiful Moorish tree of life design in green, red, and gold on a cream background. Inside are the poems with lovely color plates as illustration. A plate inside the cover states that it was presented by Jane Doe in memory of Joan Smith.

I want to possess this book very badly. The temptation to say I lost it and simply pay for it is very strong. If there is a hell, I will certainly go there for 1) stealing 2)stealing from a public library and 3) stealing a dedicated book from a public library.

The good news is that I can keep it for a month and probably renew it for another month.

Have you ever been tempted this way? Talk me out of this dastardly deed!
