This has been around for a long time and some of us have tried it-I have never had a book I left marked as found. I gave up on it.

I tried and left books all over the place, but heard nothing. I gave up on it as well. Good idea, but in real life - not so good.

I have never heard back about any of the books I have released. Some people say that if you release about 100 books, you will only ever get to know what happened to one of them, so many bookcrossers have started making controlled releases where they mail the books other bookcrossers. Sort of misses the original point, I think.

Thanks for the responses. Wow! Like I said, interesting from a conceptual standpoint.

I guess one has to release books w/ the intention of doing just that. Either that or "buying karma". Feedback would be more fun.
