The gardening year is almost over in my part of Sweden and I've gone inside to read and surf the net. This is where I do it, my chair is on the right near the desk with my computer (I forgot to plump up the cushions):
They are the collected works of August Strindberg in 55 volumes. Those on the upper shelf have faded spines but half of the next shelf is also Strindberg in the same edition. To the right of the lampshade are the collected works of novelist Hjalmar Soederberg, another Swedish classic.
I would love a room like that! I've already warned my kids that once they're out on their own (the youngest starts high school next year, so it will be a while yet) I'm turning one of their rooms into a library.
Marianese, your room is beautiful! So inviting, and I love the floor to ceiling bookshelves. I don't know how to post photos to the Internet, or I would post some of my apartment, which is almost wall to wall books....
lemonhead, it's an English brass samovar for heating water for tea, not Russian as you would expect. We prefer our electric kettle :-) The piece of furniture on the left is my husband's grandmother's doll's house. Some of the furniture and objects inside are American from a wonderful little store in Madison, WI, with only doll's house things.
I love this room. With the sunlight flooding in through the window, the warmth of the wood, and all those books floor to ceiling, it is quite inviting. One could spend many happy hours in such a room.
