If I had a big casual den, I think I might like it. It's more my style than a big vase of silk or plastic flowers.

However, I think that about a week after I bought it, I would begin to wonder if I had finally lost my mind.

I like it a lot, but I agree that I couldn't actually own it. It's one of those things that don't "last", I suspect - I'd be sick of it in a short while.

You'd need a HUGE room for it.

Interesting design, but I like my bookcases to be classic dark oak, with no nonsense whatsoever.

In a classroom or bookstore or library setting it would be terrific. I don't think I could live with it, either. Clever, though!

I'm thinking a "stand up straight" version wouldn't be too hard to acheive with some wooden blxes. Two rectangular boxes vertically for the legs, a larger square box for the torso, rectangualr boxes horizotally for the arms, a smaller square box for a neck and a medium square box for the head. Top it off with a hat-good to go!

I showed this to my DH, and he loved it, too. I'm amazed that I'm the only one that would want this in my house (we both only liked Bookman 1). My DH's response was "That is awesome."

It's actually neither....intolerable or cute.

It is, however, quirky. Probably not as appropriate for a home as it would be in a public place like a library, book shop or school as an attention-getter.

I would personally find it annoying in my home but interesting as a dislplay in...say...Barnes and Noble!

You've got to give credit to the creative soul who conceived this one!!

If this 'structure' ever found its way into my house I know I would always need to read the book that was at the bottom of the right leg; so not very practical.
Slightly OT but I notice that vtchewbecca's husband described it as awesome. In 'English' English we might use that word differently. If for eg, a multitude of the Heavenly Host appeared hovering above the breakfast table singing the Hallelujah Chrous then I might use the term awesome . . . while wondering what last night's cocoa had been spiked with. We would probably describe the bookcase as gimmicky.

Awesome (with the first syllable being elongated) here also means 'wow' 'cool' 'I want it'. I'd agree tho - gimmicky is what I'd call it. I'd also call it interesting but not for me.

Quirky and I LOVE it!! If I were to have room and the appropriate decor, I'd have it shipped already! So chewbacca, you're not alone. :-) I'd do one that looked like "The Thinker" sitting on the edge of a bookcase. He could hold all my books from the library!
